I replaced my 18" starfish rims with F430 rims shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Back in 2004, the owner's manual listed four tires officially blessed by the Ferrari Tire Fairy ... each of the four with recommended tire pressures.

The Michelin PSS tires were not even available at the time and they are 19" not 18".

I have them at 30 psi front and rear and I have no idea if that is optimal or not. Seems ok to me, but what do I know?

    Anyone have a recommendation?

The lower the psi, the better grip you get. The higher the psi, the more comfortable the ride will be over imperfect roads. The higher psi will also protect against bending a wheel in a road hazard. Generally, you want the rear psi set a little higher than the fronts. 33 front and 36 rear is probably a good recommendation. I personally run 36 and 39 because I frequently encounter imperfect road conditions. If I take my car to the track, I run 31 and 33.

Good suggestion. The recommended pressures in the owner's manual were developed with lots of empirical data to be the optimum pressures for the car/tires at the extreme limits. So, your recommendation makes a lot of sense to be a tad higher for normal use. Sacrifice a bit of extreme performance and gain comfort and a bit of extra security negotiating real world hazards on our streets.

Steve- Same as F430 with Michelins for a starter. 32 psi F and 35 psi R.

Michelin recommended to me the same pressures for MPSS as the old Pilot Sport - 28 rear 26 front. That said I run different pressure depending on what I'm doing.

You'll not go wrong with cold pressures of anything between 28 and 36 psi rear and 26 and 36 front on the MPSS tyres although it will feel rather harsh at the higher levels. After that it's about your use, how hard the car is being used and in what conditions.

    Experimentation is required really.

OK I am with you on the pressures now. I was a little shocked that the Michelins are higher in the rear than the fronts unlike the Pirellis. But double checking it is just the P Zeros that are run softer in the rear! FYI this is from the 2003 360 Owners Manual.

Greg- That is interesting since the F430 OM recommends 32/35 for the PS2. Do you have 18" or 19" wheels?

Like you said, experimentation is required to get a good balance. That is why Ferrari's recommended pressures vary so much by tire manufacturer and even tire types from the same manufacturer. Those results were empirically derived through testing by Ferrari and the tire manufacturer, primarily the former. 26 and 28 seems awfully low, but..... With tire pressures that low, you would want to check tire pressure frequently.

Sorry, I wasn't clear, Yes, I'm running on nice comfy OEM 18" rims. I guess one would indeed need more pressure on a 19" for safety of the rim.

I've run these tires at the track using pressures prescribed in other threads, 30 front/32 rear. Works great! I bump them to 32/34 for the street since they don't get the heat into them to raise the pressures that much.
