    When I did my article on 712P 1010 for Cavallino Brian told me the suspension just let go with no warning. Can Am cars require a lot of maintenance, when I was racing in the Uk based at Silverstone I befriended a Swedish mechanic there who serviced and ran several Can Am cars, he explained they go through a lot of drive train parts, that monster torque just chews things up so it's like on aircraft things have a life span and then get replaced. 1010 was a one off and -apart of a couple of other Ferraris run in Can Am before- Ferrari had no experience with all this. It is therefore quite conceivable considering their empirical ways back then that half shafts etc were not replaced as diggilently by the factory and then by NART as they would be by McLaren or others.....

    I should have figured, if a drive shaft or upright lets go, the force of the torque on the wheels will send them flailing around. Should have been obvious. Thanks,

    Nothing looks more to a 512S than a 512S - this #1004 really looks like the #1046 of post 978 ;)

    well they want you to believe its 1046 so that way the issue of the car that got certified as 1004 goes away. :)

    There is no issue.
    @Mr. "Giorgio":
    Below are two photos showing the non-Ferrari factory ID tag on Mr. G.'s fantastic 512 S.
    Please explain why there is no original and authentic ID tag on this car.
    Please also explain when and by whom this ID tag was fabricated.
    Thank you very much.

    Thanks! But this tread needs pictures of Houghton’s ‘1004’ frame and no advice for legal help, although all involved deeply regret your trauma of the lost case.

    PS: suggest hiring better staff next time (and: I have the papers ... interested?)
