I could never find good information about this: the Sharknose...
I know 6 of them were built, I know Enzo destroyed all of them (because of Dino's death?? I read that somewhere) I know Jan Biekens did a wonderfull job recreating the Ecurie Francorshamps 156 and I know several other replicas have been built (one I believe for a movie) That's all.
But can someone tell me the real story behind the Sharknose, what exactly happened with them and why Enzo destroyed them. And, of course, if there still are origional components (like the engine used by Jan Biekens).
    It would really help me!

They were all destroyed in 1964 as noncompetitive.
Strange stuff I know, can't understand it myself but when an race car is no longer worthy it is noncompetitive junk.

There is a very detailed book about the Sharknose Ferrari, by Ed McDonough, published a few years ago. Has everything you wanna know.

I think if you do an internet search for Ferrari 156 you will find as much info as yo could want on this episode in Ferrari history.

I believe it's generally accepted that the "Palace Revolt" when Carlo Chiti took Giotto Bizzarrini, Phil Hill and a group of Ferrari's staff off to form ATS prompted Enzo to purge the team of all remnants of Chiti's group and as they had been instumental in adopting the "sharknose" to the race cars, the cars had to go.
Interesting to me that the TWO recreations of the 156 that I know of are both the yellow of the Garage Francorchamps!

Dino's death would appear to be irrelevant, as he died in 1956; 6 years before the shark nose ended their racing career.

The 'Palace Revolt' was at the end of 1961' but the sharknose also raced in 1962, so that doesn't seem to be a link.
But the 156 was completely out of date at the end of 1962. In 1963 Ferrari started developing monocoque construction, and new engines for F1. So the sharknose was out of date; it had served its purpose, and what else was there to do with them? Sell them to the local scrap metal dealer.

In 1963 in the last, lightweight, English-style spaceframe F1 and in the first 'Aero'-chassis car from Monza onwards into 1964, the 120-degree engines from 1961-2 were re-used.

I don't have any notes on engine serials, but I have wondered whether any of the 65-degree engines were sold as spares for the front- and mid-engine sports prototypes that Ferrari DID sell in 1961-3; likewise gearboxes. Two engines at least survived to be in the ownership (though incomplete) of Albert Obrist and were sold at Goodwood in the late 1990s, and it was one of those two that Jan Biekens acquired for his car.

a horrible time for Enzo, for not only loosing his son, but also, in 1957 en 1958 having Castelotti, Collins, Musso and DePortago die at the wheel of a competition Ferrari.

Can't believe this car is for sale. If I'm not mistaken its creation was heavily documented on a thread here.

I saw it yesterday in Octane magazine. It looks like a good chance to own the ''only'' one Ferrari 156 Sharknose in the world.

Although one would think the second engine that seems to be in circulation could be made into a 156 Sharknose plus there is always Chris Rea's car.

But the motherload (if highly unlikely) would be the ever - present dream that maybe just maybe some Italian count with connections to the factory saved one and 10, 20, 50 years from now it will come to market, stranger things have happened.

You have to remember, these cars were just tools, that after their usefullness were discarded. Look at the 250 GTO's. Who'd ever think now that they're worth 30 million, that not too long ago, you couldn't give them away.
