This is insane in my mind - $720 for the Cali and only $177 for the Bimmer. The Bimmer is half the price of the Cali and gets worse fuel efficiency so WTF?
Are you guys experiencing a premium on your F cars?

I spent a few minutes on the Washington State website, it appears they are the stickers that you put on the license plates:)

Ohio one price fits all ... everyone paying the same price, not the "wealthy" paying for everyone else! Guess I should pull this paragraph and put it in the politics threads :D

So is that like a new car sales tax, or does it apply to second hand cars too ?

Just here in uk there has been talk of adding a new luxury tax to hit those who they can't get other ways, as well as the road fund license (car tax annual) which first year tax for ferraris and range rovers etc is about £1000, and then about £450 a year after that dependent on emissions catagory. But they are trying to sway public voters with luxury brand tax on top of all this, so for everything bought new from handbags and luxury watches to top end cars.

It's the thin end of the wedge. In Cyprus you can expect to pay at least 25% of what you pay for a 2001 360 Modena in "taxes". Absolutely disgusting, and If they start this taxation in the uk it will finaly drive the last if the higher end earning bracket out of there. Sad, sad state of affairs...

My 348 is over 20 years old and qualified for "Collector" status. License fee was $90 (in lieu of sales tax) + $100 (vanity plate fee) + $70 (other taxes & fees).

One-time, good as long as I own the car. :D

$2.99 for a six pack of Tab this weekend. Personally I think it's a deal.

Don't get me started on taxes. We have a "Luxury Car Tax" in Australia, which is at a rate of 33% for vehicles selling for more than ~$60K. So a $400K Ferrari sells for something over $500K because the dealership needs to give ~$112K of that to the government.

"Tabs" in Australia are more expensive if purchased at a nightclub than direct from a dealer

I'm not sure asking about the street price in public is appropriate :)

My annual road tax on my Cali on the other hand was £475

In the state of Virginia we have the dreaded personal property tax which on my california was about $3500 this year . we have an exemption for cars over 25 yrs old.. which are classified as antiques then there is no PPT..

Super expensive property taxes here in TX, but car registration is dirt cheap, especially for expensive cars, since everybody pays the same $64 a year. And no state taxes. Personal taxes only for business purposes.
