I always liked that place, even eating there thru the E. coli trouble or whatever it was.

    I did too.

What's ironic is I used to hate it. But freebirds was pissing me off with more expensive, less portioned bowls so I started trying them again and had it regularly ever since.

And another checked-off of the list today...can’t be a surprise to anyone here...In & Out Burger!

Double double animal style and animal style fries. (First time having animal style fries for me, and I have to say they were darn good.)

    Burger was yummy as always.

Another day, another place checked-off of the "thank God I'm back in the USA" list...

This time its Tacos El Chino in downtown PHX. Very plus level, authentic place.

Their claim to fame is that they make a wide gamut of bbq'd and boiled mexican meats. From cabeza (beef head) to lingua (beef tongue) to cachete (beef cheek) to barbacoa of pork and beef and turkey. And the usual choices like pork adobada, carne asada and pollo.

They have amazing homemade tortillas of course, and a large salsa and toppings bar. Interestingly, they keep some of the meats (the cabeza and chacete and a couple of others) in a hot pan soaking in flavorful juice, and then they plop that mixture of meat and juice right onto the tortilla....which then soaks into the tortilla and is both very yummy and very messy.

    Today I had:

    Cabeza (2x)
    Cachete
    Barbaqoa
    Carne Asada
    Adobado

Love this place. Highly recommended. I was the only non-native-spanish speaker in the packed restaurant today.

    Blame it on the ‘rona!

For reasons unclear to me, in my mind freedom from lockdown always looked like going to Taco Bell...so I guess I am more free today...

I was at Jonah’s last week. I usually get a dozen hush puppies to take home, but I thought they were a little over-seasoned this time.

I thought they were fantastic. Best I've had in quite a while. I'm surprised we didn't get any to go, but we were all pretty full. I wasn't expecting it, but it was as filling as eating a burger. Fries were taken home though. May heat those up later.
