One very small positive of the lock down, is that it served to reintroduce me to an old favorite, tuna sandwiches. Ania had never had tuna prepared this way and she loves them. So we are making them often. I usually dice up carrots, onion (or chives or scallions), celery and then mix with the tuna, salt, pepper, cayenne, mustard and mayo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My craving for food I didn't cook (after so much cooking of late) led me to even try frozen store-bought pizza. Ugh, not something I have had in years due to the easy availability of both delivery and the "fresh" pre-made pizzas at most grocery stores. But, in covid times, the freezer has re-established it importance. So, frozen pizza. It proves the "there is no such thing as bad pizza" phrase..it was "meh", but not bad. That's mom quality TF! My wife pestered me for a long time to go the full 9 yards & put all the carrots, celery, etc. into her tuna fish sammiches. Just like her mom did. So, I did once and she complained I didn't de-string the celery! T
What's the line, pizza is like sex, when it's good it's great, when it's bad, it's still pretty good! T
Same here. We've been having them more too, with your type recipe more loaded up. Easy to keep around with those multiple can packages from Costco. The wife also likes Deviled Ham. Me, not so much, it's ok in small amounts.
That looks pretty good. Last time in SD we got a couple and they were definitely meh. But in a pinch they fit the bill.
Rest of the ground beef finished up as a double cheese smash burger today for lunch. Image Unavailable, Please Login
okay, this was super yummy! We had a couple of store-bought falafels and appropriate ingredients to make our first-ever homemade Falafel Wrap. We added radish, scallions, greens, hummus, a home-made garlic sour cream, halumi cheese and sliced pickles. Wrapped it up and it was as good as any we have had in London (where there are several good places). Gonna have to repeat this soon... We have been making falafel wraps frequently for lunch. Here is today's effort (falafel, hummus, radish, parsley, basil, cheese, red onion): Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Went out for take-out Fish and Chips (a few places are finally opening for take out). It was "meh" (its an 8-minute walk with fried food, so...): Image Unavailable, Please Login
Moving from falafel-wrap obsession to many days of tuna sandwich. Still yummy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had some olive oil/smoked Trader Joe’s sardines and cento anchovies on socca bread with fresh picked baby spinach, Lime juice, and Fennel sea salt. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You should try boquerones (white anchovies in vinegar/olive oil), Ron. I think you'd really love them. T
Last of the tuna sandwich's...I think we well and good scratched that itch...should be good for another decade before hitting them again... Image Unavailable, Please Login
