A thread for projects both diy and professional. Here's my doings...

One of the headlights was cracked in the coloured area and the other had a mis-fitting gasket, so it was a good excuse for the bumper to come off. The gasket on the one side was perished, so a pair ordered. For the cracked headlight, I followed the very useful instructions in another thread about removing the lens with the aid of heat. Unfotunately no pic of the original cracks, but here's a couple of the repair:

I then took on the painting task with my favourite airbrush (in the corner of the in-between pic

and then all ready for assembly

Also treated the car to a new set of LED bulbs

While the front bumper was off, I took the opportnity to clean up the front and replace all the rusty bolts with nice shiny ones...

One thing which had always bugged was the shabby heatshields above the muffler tips, so decided to make carbon fibre versions...

    The originals

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

The CF ones made by wet-laying carbone over the orginals and then using gold thermal tape on the undersides...

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

Weight saving is 410g for the newones vs 975g for the orginals - so less than half!

Also in the pipeline are yellow calipers and the dashboard removed tor replace the broken vent...

Great to see such skilled members here.

I'm not doing much this winter....dropped it off for a major service. Will also swap wheels and maybe do some LEDs and a stereo before spring....maybe some CF wrap on some interior pieces.

Wow, great work. I am slowly building up my confidence to take on bigger projects. So far this winter (is winter officially here yet?):
    • Took the door cards off to rebuild the OEM speakers
    • Refresh all the tired, broken, or missing hardware in the engine bay
    • Took out the ECU for reflash

Can you post some pics when you do the suspension decouple? I’d like to see which wires are involved and where they are. Thanks!

In California we drive to our seasons, I drove up to Winter for some Christmas skiing at Squaw. Might drive to Spring on the North Coast next week.

I've been a busy beaver this winter as well.

Mechanically, I had a new timing belt installed, new cam cover gaskets, all new Hill Engineering ball joints, all new tie rods and four new tires.
I accidently spilled some polyurethane adhesive all over my drivers side carpet last year trying to develop some speaker pods, so I swapped out the carpet this winter for a new piece. I purchased a Mosconi digital signal processor. Oh my goodness, what a difference in sound! You hook up a network cable between the DSP and a laptop, and tune your system using their software. All six of my 500 Watt amplifiers are in the trunk, and my amplifier cradle only held my equalizer, so I managed to shoehorn the DSP inside of the cradle. I mounted the DSP preset selector switch on my OEM switch panel by drilling a hole in the blank area on the lower left hand side. I used a new switch panel (only 25 bucks from Daniel @ Ricambi) and saved the original. I swapped out my Focal 5 1/4" midranges in the doors with Focal 6 1/2" FX units. I also installed Dynamat in both doors as well as both door cards. And finally, I replaced the cheap pillow filler in my subwoofer enclosure with that new "Black Hole" material. It's expensive, but I have much tighter bass now, and more sound pressure.

Up next is to have both seats fully reupholstered. I hate the black piping, so I'm having them redone with tan leather, tan stitching and Daytona inserts. I'm also having the leather on the dash replaced.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows how nice California weather is - no need to gloat about it. It's not perfect all the time as I wasn't driving top-down a couple of weeks ago when half of our state was burning down.

Lol good point it rained ash for a week and I evacuated the Porsche and Ferrari during the Santa Rosa and Napa fires. Fire never got closer than about 1.5 miles though.

Had the drivetrain restored and drove it home yesterday. It was misting and my temp plate was expired, so I just drove it home. Cruddy weather again today, but I probably won't be able to resist taking it out. :)
