Toto (repeatably) banging his fist on the counter. Starting in Melbourne.
He would be silly to do that: Perez's car may be the only point-scoring one in the team ! A repeat of Baku is unlikely for Stroll Jr.
My hope is for Kubica and Alfa Romeo and Haas to all have a significantly successful year. I don't wish last place on anyone or any team. It will happen but I don't wish it. I also hope that Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull all struggle in the first half of the season...and then let the better team put forth the better car and driver, and win in the second half. I would not mind if the Driver's and Manufacturer's titles went to different teams.
The more I think about it, I’d love to see Gasly bring to Max. I think Max needs to be brought off his high horse.
Will be interesting to see how the new kids on the block get on. George at Williams,Albon at Toro Rosso,Lando in the Macca and Giovanazzi with Alfa. Expect George to be right up there with Kubica,Albon might struggle a bit in the first races,Lando seems a bit too young/immature to cope with F1 in general not to mention Sainz,Gio is an interesting one against Kimi ,no easy job at all.
So much going on this season to look forward to. How does a person pick just one?? Kubica pulling up Williams (fingers crossed) Leclerc stumping Vettel. Where will Vettel go? Racing Point taking a step backwards due to dumping a great driver (Ocon) for whatever you want to call Stroll. Ricci at Renault, hoping they do well but I actually think the Hulk will be faster! Red Bull either showing they were brilliant or morons. My guess is the latter. Honda sounds great but they’re already whining about engine loopholes they intend to try and close because they cannot figure out how to do the same. Haas. I truly hope they wipe the smirk from Christian Horner’s face. I can’t stand his communism and anti-Americanism lately. He and Ocasio-Cortez should get a room. Alfa’s car concepts fascinate me! Love that. My guess is Kimi is just keeping the seat warm for Mick Schumacher who will take over post Kimi. I’m sure I’m missing an awful lot. That all said: MB will wipe the floor with the field though. Sorry everyone. Their repackaging of the sidepods and repurposing of the crash structure in the manner they have done it is a masterstroke. Ferrari’s car from the looks of it doesn’t have the stuff. MB are said to have gained 12bhp and will not need to fill the tanks to boot. Luftwaffe for the dominant win again.
Papa Stroll has no scruples. First and foremost, he wants to see his son in the front. Team points are important but not his priority.
I hope to see Mercedes failing. And Ferrari taking the lead. I want to see Red Bull succeed with Honda. I am curious to see how Leclerc will fare. Excited about Alfa Romeo coming back! Curious about Stroll demolished by Peres. About Riccardio vs Hullkenberg, and Renault eating their words about how much better than Red Bull they will be...
Ferrari team management getting their act together and making good race strategy decisions, ... and winning it all LeClerc vs Vettel Honda-powered Red Bulls How many front wings get clipped off by Max, and whether, while they’re still in one piece, the wings do better or worse in the turbulent air behind a car in front Renault surprising everyone with podium appearances Fewer DNFs due to Honda engine failures Whether Mercedes will out-engineer everyone again, by making the best in-season adjustments Whether Lewis keeps his level of focus and ability Whether McLaren does better or worse with the engine change Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
From what the pundits said after the first tests, what I was looking for this year is unlikely to happen: More overtakings. It looks that the aero changes brought for 2019 don't seem to make much difference. If following another car is still a struggle, the chances of overtaking it are slim, and the racing suffers, IMO. Ross Brawn didn't deliver, as far as I can see, and I am disappointed..
I look forward to this finish in the Drivers' World Championship - not a prediction, just what I'd like to see: 1. Ferrari - Leclerc 2. Alfa Romeo - Raikonnen 3. Ferrari - Vettel 4. Alfa Romeo - Giovinazzi 5. Renault - Ricciardo 6. Haas - Grosjean 7. Red Bull - Verstappen 8. Mercedes-Benz - Bottas 9. Renault - Hulkenberg 10. Mercedes-Benz - Hamilton
1. Hamilton asking his crew about his latest rap lyrics when leading 2. Leclerc becoming an insufferable prima donna. Vettel and Leclerc will tangle more than Hamilton and Nico. Yeehaw. 3. Renault scaring the establishment, much like Benetton in the late 80’s. They’ll fade but it’ll make life interesting for a moment. 4. Not paying to attend for a second year. 5. Hulk winning his first race. 6. Lance quitting F1 before half season.
Despite Ferraris protestations, Leclerc will challenge and often better Vettel especially on the high speed circuits. How it all plays out depends on how competitive the Mercedes-Benz is when it counts and if Bottas can challenge Hamilton a bit more than he did last year. Secondly, with Max the clear #1 at Red Bull, this is his make or break year. He either emerges as F-1 elite with competitive drives, no mistakes and crashes as he's been apt to do or he buckles under and becomes a more consistent podium visitor. Third, expect the Renault team to step forward with two top drivers Ricciardo and Hulkenberg. This is going to be very interesting to see how it develops. It would be good to see Ferrari, Red Bull and Renault challenge Mercedes-Benz for the championship but on form, Hamilton and Mercedes-Benz have to be the favorites to take it all again. BHW
yes, except that from what I've seen and heard, I'm inclined to believe that Leclerc is not going to be a prima donna, which is far from saying that he and Sebastien will not give us some very interesting racing.
1) Leclerc beating Vettel and Hamilton 2) Max having temper tantrums over Honda. 3) Kimi at Alfa. I'm hoping for some podiums and maybe even a surprise under the right conditions 4) Racing point FAIL 5) Honda to stick it to McLaren every time the RB outqualifies them 6) Never seeing another freakin' gross "shoe-y" from Ricciardo 7) Kubica. Just him being in an F1 car is a miracle.
8) Not having to listen to Alonso whining on about his engine, and all the deck chair/tennis theatricals. Bye bye, anyone missing him yet ? Thought NOT.
