I am thinking of going this June to Montreal for the GP. I have been in Montreal several times, but never to the GP. As the matter of fact I have never been to any GP. After researching posts on other sites, I can gather a couple of things:
1 Paddock is super expensive, and I don't want to spend that money.
2 front strait is not for me
3 sections 11 & 12 may not give you a full sense of braking, and acceleration, but give you a good view of the start, and 1st turn carnage
    4 most people seem to like 21/21a, 15, 24

I think that high in 15 is the best overall view of the track, but not sure. Many like 21, and 24

Can anyone shed some light on this
Also if you have other recommendations about race related events, hotel, restaurants...

We sat at grand stand 34 in 2008. You get to see the vehicles at slow speed and lots of passing. This is where Robert K crashes in 2007.
The Canadian GP was the single most amazing sport experience I have had in my life. Enjoy

I've been to the race probably a dozen time, and recommend 11, 12, 15, 21, or 24. Basically, the Senna Corner or the Queen's hairpin.

Gotta love the hairpin. Hard braking coming in, full acceleration and sound on exit, and your right in the peak of the sound pattern. Awesome!!!!

I got some closed cell foam pads from amazon for about $15 but worth many times that by the end of the day.

High up in 15 is good but you are quite a distance from the track, so have binoculars or a long camera lens handy. But you see quite a bit of the track (as well as the city and the ship canal!) and there is a jumbotron screen right in front of you, inside the hairpin. Unfortunately, less passing takes place here than in the old days. (Nowadays, most of the passing takes place at the end of the straight, just before the pit entrance.)

24 has the advantage of being a bit closer to the action, and you can see the cars from the time they enter the "stadium" that surrounds the hairpin until the time they leave. The same jumbotron is also available, but in the afternoon you are looking into the sun.

And both of these stands are fairly close to the pedestrian bridge that takes you to the Metro station, so you can leave ahead of most of the crowd if you so choose.
