there are several F's in odessa now - a new 430 red/tan is owned by a doctor. there is also a red/black 360 spyder - doctor owned as well there is also a blue spyder owned by a businessman here. the guy in the above posts did infact have a McLaren and an enzo at the same time - they have both been sold and he now has a Veyron -
I remember when the Mclaren was taken to the Firestone test track in Ft. Stockton for a Road and Track shoot back in 1997 or 1998. Many other cars there as well. I miss West Texas.
For the article that featured the McLaren on the cover the car was trucked to California. Road and Track burned the clutch up and wore out a full set of tires. Did not repair the clutch but did finally replace the tires. He told me that he will not let R&T have another of his cars for testing purposes. As Synetra said above, he now owns a black/red Veyron and has sold both the Mac and the Enzo. I believe he still has the Murci.....
I saw all the photos and read about it and it could be the car. It did belong to him and he did loan his cars regularly. I had forgotten about that accident. I will attempt to contact him and determine it for sure if it was that Murci or another.. Perhaps Synetra knows..........
Not sure if Amarillo is included in the classification of "West Texas", but there are quite a few F-cars and other notables here. Several 360s, a 430, a 599, a 348 (mine), two 328s, a 308, and at least one TR that I know of. Other notables include a black Merci, a Gallardo, a Carrera GT, a Ford GT, and a Bugatti Veyron that is supposedly in transit. Now if I can just get all of these in the car show that I am chairman of next fall!
If you can get all those cars in a car show I might have to make a trip up from Austin! That would be a real feat! Best, James M Austin, TX
I actually came very close to doing it last fall. Why don't you bring your F-car up and help make it happen?
I talked again to my buddy, he said that he spotted it on 277 in or near Bronte Friday late afternoon, it was a yellow Murcie with the Christian fish emblem on the back of it... With that fish on the back, I'd bet a dollar that it was Mr. B's car!
Was that the day of the F50/F1 meeting at the dealership? I was there as well, got a ride in the F1. Thanks Mr. B!
In Eden, Texas today. My sources tell me that a red Ferrari 430 coupe was parked out front of the Federal Prison facility. Apparently it belongs to a dentist who I suppose was there to work on inmates.
Wednesday night i saw a red 458 on Soncy Rd in Amarillo. Amazing how you can tell the type of car by its headlights.
I think I had a run in with the F1 you guys mentioned back at the beginning of this thread. When I was at Tech I was very involved with the local Solo2 SCCA region and we ran at the old bomber base in Dalhart. Well, after a Sunday event up there we roll back into Dalhart to stop at Pizza Hut or some joint like that to grab some dinner before the 3 hour trip back to Lubbock and there is a freaking McLaren F1 sitting on an open trailer behind a pickup! I about fainted. This was the mid-late 90's so no cell phone to snap a picture with but that is something I'll never forgot. It wasn't covered or anything. It was like he was just hauling some "regular" car...
In the last week in San Angelo I have seen a BMW Z8!!! (They only made a few thousand of those) and a Maserati Granturismo and Quattroporte
Hey that's big stuff around here Notice I waited until I had something really cool like a Z8 to post. Besides, I noticed the East Spotters Thread, Houston Spotters Thread, Austin Spotters Thread, were all at the top of the Texas Section and I was feeling left out.
F1 was owned by a oil exec in Midland. The car used to come to Ft. Stockton, where I lived during the 90's, and tested at the Firestone test track by Road and Track Magazine. The guy owned several high end exotics and I hear he still does.
Just found this thread. Wow, some of these stories have really grown! Although one thing not mentioned is that the Lambo had a receiver hitch...
