What is the OEM application for a 40 DCNF 20 20 ? Other related numbers (on the box) are: 18950 065 90.0088.65 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Try contacting Pierce Manifolds. They know their stuff and they've helped us with inquiries just like this. https://www.piercemanifolds.com/
Thanks. I was in contact with Mike, but the data he has is little inconclusive, so I thought I try here also. According to his data it's for a '71 246 but possibly only 1 or 2 (out of 3) were used in that application, other(s) being different number. This is 1 of 4 a friend has had for 40+ years and I'm just helping him to figure out what they belong to and possibly sell them on his behalf. He bought them for a custom, non-Ferrari application at the time.
That stamping looks more like "40 DCNF 20 2C" to me. How about a pic of the other side showing the directions of the mixture screws? The Haynes Weber book (page 186) has one 40 DCNF 20 being used on (euro) 246GT along with two 40 DCNF 13.
Thanks. Closer look at the original picture sent to me sure has it like “2C” (I was told it’s “20 20” and took it for granted). Your referenced assessment for application is similar to what Mike P. said. Here’s a photo of the other side. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a copy of the Weber Ferrari applications from that Haynes Weber book for reference: Image Unavailable, Please Login which shows that US version 246GT use a different carb configuration of three 40 DCNF 19.
The 40 DCNF was used on various versions of the Fiat and Ferrari Dinos. It also was used in a tuning kit for a Ford V-6 in the UK. The last number indicates a specific combination of jets, emulsion tubes, etc. With different jets, it should be usable on any of these cars. Based on a quick search of an older Weber jet table, I couldn't find an OEM application with a final number of 20.
365 GTB/4s came with 40 DCN 20, 21 & 21A which all have 3 mounting holes at the base. This one has 4, which might be referenced with the "F" after the DCN.
Thanks. Mike P. was initially reciting same/similar data for 40 DCNF applications, but after checking his archives/library called me back and seemed fairly convinced, like Steve M. here (supported with his print data), that this is a 246 GT carb. I really appreciate everyones input.
I would say with a high degree of confidence that it is a Ferrari Dino carb. Another tell tale is the FERRARI tag on the top. I bought an NOS one like this for $350 a few years back and it was about market price. Nice find
