Looks like a decent car.... however I can't tell if it actually sold for that price or failed to make reserve.

Car sold, $159,600 including commission. It appears Italians from the 1950s-70s did very poorly. Late model super exotics are doing well for the younger crowd who have lots of cash to spend. Overall, unless it is a Porsche, the market is not doing well.

Wow this just hammered at 415, now that's a massive miss. I'd be nervous if I had no reserve lots coming up. They seem flustered. Anyone there who can tell us about the mood in the room? I don't recall this happening quite like this. Is it the quality of cars? Are the auction houses being over optimistic?

NO, in most cases it is the consignor who is dreaming and thinks it is still 2015........or 1989.........

Got it, didn't realize cosigner could set price, to the casual observer it makes the auction house look off. Thanks for clarifying. I would have thought the marque experts would guide them.

On another note, I did meet the owner of the blue Daytona Spider at the FCA meet in Daytona around 2015 or so. As a college student he had visited the home of John Buck Fulp, former NART racer who still lives there. That car did well. Buck with Mr. Chinetti I'm guessing Sebring with company plane.

If I recall correctly, you have at least one interesting Daytona.

Estimates, reserves and sellers commissions are negotiated between the consignor and the auction house.

Yes my wife lets me drive it occasionally, in the background the Alfred Browning Parker home built for Buck Fulp 1964. I wonder if the comp wheels featured would pop at an auction. You just don’t know. We have the wire and other wheels as well. These were sourced for the Daytona FCA meet and painted by the body/paint man in our town who we discovered was restoring Charlie Nearbergs GTO. What’s a GTO doing in Anderson SC? Crazy….

Went back and did some digging. It was FCA 2017, and here is an interesting article on the gentleman who sold me the wheels. Neat guy, cool cars.

Apparently, in todays world if you are under 30, it's not that cool; neither is the house.

That auctioneer is weak. She became annoying just a few minutes in to the video. Could be part of the reason for a less than enthusiastic pool of bidders.

Sure was a nice buy for a front engine V12 though. Not my favorite model, but the more I learn about the them, the more interested I have become...

Agreed. Funny thing, we found the next Max, even told him so. Looks like him even. Same mannerisms, multilingual, he's a cruise director on a Ponant cruise we just took around New Zealand on Le Laperouse. And I'm not kidding. I wonder what the salary is for someone like Max who could sell fire to the devil. I told him so after my wife won the bid for the Isetta at the RM Microcar auction Maddison GA.

Says that the interior is highly original.
Dashboard and console are covered in leather instead of the original mousehair suede. Radio is anything but original.
Seating needs some work although looks to be original, as do the mechanicals which seem tired on first glimpse.
The car needs some good work done on it so that should reflect the sale price. Anywhere between 175k and 225k if at least a good runner.

FWIW, this was not a very nice car. Up until a couple of weeks before the auction, it was sporting seats from a 348 (look at the photos, one of them clearly shows the wrong seats), the seats that replaced the 348 seats were the wrong color as well. At the very best, it was a driver so at least IMO, its hammer price was not indicative of what a nice 365 is worth.
