I was watching some videos earlier on Youtube of the 355,360, and 550. I noticed the top speed on all of them was under 200 mph, the 550 was just barely under 200 but regardless it still was. Im sure the F40 and F50 hit 200+ but those weren't really production cars bc they made so few. So that would make the 575 at 202 MPH the first "mass produced" Ferrari car in the 200 MPH club then right?

Yup, but you need a really, really long straight to get there.

I hit 183 during Pilota Driving School at Mugello in a 575 in 2004. Only 183 because I ran out of straightaway and had to hit the brakes.

I have read that the 550 was capable of/rated for 200MPH in several places...

I believe a 550 will do 200 if the airfilter and exhaust are changed to more free flowing components. Best I have had is 325 kph. on the speedo, but who knows the real speed? A friend of mine had a 550 which was supposedly chip tuned and special exhaust and with sport air filters. His one did 340 on the speedo. I have a hard time beliving him but that is what he told me. Still very fast for a 20 year old GT at a fraction of the price of a modern Ferrari.

I guess it depends on how you define "production car." I think to most people that implies a car made by a manufacturer and sold via dealers licensed and registered for road use, as in not a kit car or a race car. In that case I believe the F40 is capable of 201 or something like that.

I said in my OP that im sure the F40 and F50 did it but those weren't cars for the masses, the 575 was prob the first normal car ie 2000+ units made.

I read that, I was just disagreeing. So you're defining "production car" as any car produced in a volume greater than 2,000. Which is fine, in that case I suppose its probably the 575.

Dave- 200 mph on the speedometer is nowhere near a real 200 mph, either.

5-10% error, always high, so in that range.
