    Hi

I am contemplating purchasing a 16M shortly and wanted to know whether they made them with manual transmission and if they did whether any were produced in right hand drive?

I have seen some models with Red brake calliper and some with Yellow what is the difference?

Is the F1 transmission easy to use, enjoyable to drive and problem free in most instances?

    Sorry about all the questions

    Thank you for your help

    Hello and welcome to Fchat!

Like said above, all Scuderia 16M's are with F1 transmission. Many posts about this forum about F1.

Brake caliper colors are options that buyer chose when ordering the car. The most usual are red, black and yellow. There was other options too. No technical differencies between calipers that would be indicated by colors.

This 16M is to go along with the Superamerica you were asking about in the Maranello V12 forum?

    Hi

I have been contemplating either buying a 16M or a Superamerica as I wanted a limited production run car and both of those cars are within my budget. My partner prefers the 16M probably because it is newer and I am starting to side with her also after learning about some of the Superamerica roof problems and the cost of replacing the roof. Whilst looking for cars I noticed that Manual cars seemed to be going for a premium e.g. 575M Maranello Manual is significantly more than 575M Maranello F1 hence the reason for asking about manual transmission.

What is the F1 transmission like on the 16M are there any good threads I should read?

Can you drive at speed when the roof is up and does it leak on the 16M?

    Thank you for your help.

I have a 16M..the F1 superfast2 is fabulous. The shifts are brutally quick. The car has a huge amount of personality.
I have driven with top down quite fast without issue.
I have not noticed my roof leaking even after a thorough washing.

    Hi

When buying a 16M is there anything I should look for that would be costly to repair after purchase?

Is there anything on a 16M that frequently goes wrong that is expensive to repair or replace?

Are there any non standard extra's that I should look to purchase the car with?

Thanks for your help and time.

    Hi

I read the buying 16M thread and a few others which were most helpfull and informative but would still like to ask some further questions:

Is there need for me to get a PPI check done if I am buying the car from Authorised Dealer?

What other reports should I ask for except full service record, what work has been done on the car previously and what warranties existed on the car previously?

If I ask for a clutch report what is an acceptable clutch percentage when buying a used 16M, at what percentage would you expect them to change it?

If buying from a 3rd party dealer will they be able to check clutch ware like a main dealer and should I definately get a PPI check done?

What does a compression test involve and will a authorised or 3rd party dealer automatically do it?

What brake checks should I ask about?

Glazed Headlight covers, yellowed or dirty engine bay panels and 100% functional soft top operation are some things that I should check at the garage what other non warranty things should I look for?

Sorry about all the questions and my lack of knowledge.

Thanks for your help and time.

That's not manual. 16M's have only two pedals.

In searching for manual 360 or 430 cars, you often see this same mislabel of manual on cars that do not have a gated transmission. I get it sort of in the CS since there is no automatic mode. You do actually have to "manually" click the paddles.
