    Dearest Enthusiasts,

I've been looking for a part of the steering linkage Ferrari Part No. 104865 (no. 33 in the diagram at http://www.eurospares.co.uk/parttablePopup3.asp?ID=1398975), that fits all the following Ferrari Models: 365 GT4 2+2, 400 GT, 400i and 412.

Can anyone share his or her ideas how I could get a hold of this part? With it comes roadworthiness of my Ferrari an d I would love to see it back on the road after almost 15 years of playing "sleeping beauty".

Thank you very much for your help!
    Best, Dee

Have you tried all of the usual suppliers, such as Ricambi America (FChat sponsor), TRutlands, Partsource, Ferrari UK, Dennis McCann etc?

Machine out the rod ends and weld in a pair of tie rod ends.

Not that big of a job.

Thanks Ashman, I have tried them all. One is still thinking he might be able to get the part in the next days. Probably the pricing will be as if the thing is made from titanium. Let's see.

Cool, that might be the way to go. Is there trickiness involved when it comes to specific angles? Not sure how to deal with the nodes at the end of the bar with the threads to host the actual tie rod ends. Thank you anyway! I'll look into that.

I have done similar. Machine out the rod ends to accept a rose joint (can be bought race car quality)

Then machine the ball, on the end of tapered shaft parallel (with a shoulder on it) then insert through the rose joint.

Retain rose joint in assembly with screw on cap or other method.

Choose a high quality rose joint, new boot, and the assembly will outlast the car

    Dear dytonaman,

I checked with my mechanic. He is excited to learn a little more about your solution. Would you be willing to let me know, what parts from which manufacturer you used and maybe provide a sketch (cross section) of what is happening inside underneath the cap Thanks in advance!

Hi all! Reviving an old thread here.

I’m working with a shop and they seem to be having a hard time finding suitable ball joints for this repair. Anyone have a lead on where I can find these?

    Thanks!

Trying again here... my current shop has been in touch with @Rifledriver and the local fab shop he recommended to do the repair is unable to execute on this (timing of 6+ mos due to backlog and apparently lack of certainty that they can actually execute this... also estimating $2K+, which seems crazy expensive given the description of the repair earlier in the thread - perhaps I’m missing something).

Does anyone have details that they can share on how to do this please?!? Or better yet, a shop that can execute this in the US? Help! @daytonaman can you please share details shared with @Dee via pm?

I have an extra set of linkage form a 365GTC / 4 that should fit a 400, the parts book shows that they are the same. It is complete with tie rods, steering arms and mounts too the frame. If interested contact me at 702-243-6557.
