Looking for a boxer carb or injected...any help appreciated...thanks
Car has to be 25 years old to get in so I hear unless you buy one from the US already. Cant help in that department, only know of non-us models in Euro unmolested form.
Has anyone seen this one? http://philvilleusa.com/text?PageName=512BBi&PHPSESSID=cfc9196b17eef42aaf394d2ea04681f5
330GT2+2: There is a well maintained BBi owned by a lady, that also races a Challenge Ferrari. I do not remember her name. It has BBS wheels in addition to the originals, she always takes care of it. Norwood did a lot of her work. Its a real driver, mileage is about 40,000, but it is very well maintained. Maybe when another Fchatter sees this photo, they can tell who she is. You have picked up on Msdesigns efforts to take the market up in value...LOL! With Frank's and Gary Reeds and others all offered at the same time. Shame you missed Dana G.s as she had that car a long time and it was well cared for...... Hold on I know of one brb.......
Frank was at FFQC, a very nice example, he searched a long time to find it. WTH, give him $100K and you are through!
I found the offer of a Boxer for sale... PM me and tell who you are and I'l give you the lead, he was very serious, offering it to me......
In that thread, perhaps, but not necessarily listing our cars for sale! I'm hanging on to mine. After all, if someone paid me $150k, how could I replace it with something as cool?
Same here, $150K would be nice but Im not interested in selling it because I would just have to go and find another to replace it. Besides, the radios are worth $3K, what a joke, glad mine is there still.
I am never selling my 512BB either, I wouldn't even joke about it putting it up for sale for $150k as what if someone wanted to buy it? A Boxer especially a carb car is every bit worth as much as a Daytona and more so IMO as they have the low profile engine in the proper race car orientation and they are still hand made, I believe this is one of the few road cars Enzo personally was very much involved in its design to this degree from my research on them as he was upstaged by the Miura and wanted to show everyone what Ferrari could do with a mid engine V12. Their is nothing to replace one with that is a 12cylinder thats also very light and compact for what they are, the modern front engine Ferrari V12s and the Lambo Diablo and Murcis have 600-800lbs of extra weight on them which takes away from the driving experience. Good luck in finding a Boxer though.
I love my Boxer and think it's a great car. However, the fact that it has a "low profile" engine is irrelevent since Ferrari set that engine on top of the transaxle! Boxers have very poor handling at the limit as a result thereof. I agree with the rest of your post though.
I haven't noticed any poor handling with my BB during hard cornering at the limit, very predictable vs my 328 which will spin easier and faster. IMO the cause for that rep is the lousy TRX tires that get like bubblegum when hot, BBLMs seem to have no problem consistently winning against Daytonas and other vintage Ferraris at historic races also with their engine set up, even though the engine is above the transaxle the weight is still kept low as the V12s have all the weight on top of the motor as well. William H here has his race TR thats the same design and seems to be very fast as well vs other cars on the track.
Ok! I will Take a $ 30,000.00 Loss and let this beautiful Boxer go for $150,000.00 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Then you must not be pushing it hard enough as all three Boxer models were notorious for poor handling due to their high engine mounting. But, they were meant to be GT cars, not sports cars! FYI, when the BBLMs were racing it the 70s they weren't fast enough to even get out of the way of the racing Porsches of that era.
If I pushed my BB any harder I would be in a ditch in the middle of nowhere in the desert, the rear breaks loose and I'll steer with the throttle just like my 930.I would consider my BB a sports car it weighs the same as my 328 and handles and stops better as well not to mention is more powerful. Porsche 935s were pushing 700hp with welded on heads to prevent them from blowing head gaskets in the 70s, the BBLMs were around 450hp so they didn't stand much of a chance with the highest place being 3 I believe, the BBLMs did trounce other cars such as the BMW M1s. But back to my original point the BBLMs rule vintage racing unless a 512 show up.
Or a 935 shows up. And, it was Ferrari who marketed Boxers as GT cars so I assume they sold them as they intended...after all, I believe they made them!
935s or any Porsche are not allowed in the Historic Challenge- Ferraris only. Ferrari also classified the 288GTO, F40 and F50 as GT cars as well.
