Thought I would take a chance and try and improve the shift times, throttle response etc. in my F1 so I tried this product and long story short, save your money for mods that actually make a difference.

Installed as per instructions, received confirmation of a good remap just as it stated in the instructions and.......blech! Car drove exactly as it did previously - no noticeable difference in anything.

I know its buyer beware and I am not crying about my wasted money; however I just wanted to pass along my experience to the F-Chatters who may be considering this unit.

Hmmmm. I have no info on the ECU in these cars. Would be good to understand how they handle control of the engine. That might tell you why you can or cannot feel the changes. Overall though it's a small amount of horsepower being added vs the total of the car so may be difficult to feel as you state.

Its not so much the small increase in HP I was after as I know you need a full ECU flash for that; however I was looking for the increased throttle response, faster shifting etc. These are supposedly things that this unit does.

Edit to my OP - Apparently this unit takes some time to "Learn and adapt" so I guess I will see how it reacts over the next little while.

I'd rather not post the link to the product as I am not intending on offending anyone on the board. A quick google search will get you the information you are looking for.

Yes. I have never seriously considered doing it but thanks for sharing.

Also shows class you didn't want to offend the manufacturer.

How would an ECU tune affect shift times? Wouldn't the TCU need to be modified?

You know the fastest shift times require a specific manettino setting, throttle position, and RPM correct? In other words, you have to be pushing the car, or it won't shift faster. Just trying to help : )

Certainly makes sense and I have pushed it, although only in about 15 second bursts as by that time the car well over 140 miles an hour lol.

Tried it in both sport and race modes during about 40 minutes behind the wheel in a variety of traffic conditions.

As I was in race mode, I was wondering what most people drive in and does driving in race mode wear the clutch faster on an F1 car?

VR Tuned OBDII Port Tune Auto Flash Ferrari F430

^Product seen here. I've exchanged a few emails with martiy1971 today regarding this as well.

Firstly, let me thank you for your feedback. Whether positive or negative, we always welcome feedback from our clients.

As discussed via email, there is an adaptation period for this product. Typically, when we provide these to local clients who want before/after dynos or similar, we do a baseline, have them drive for roughly 1 week, and then have them return to our facility for the delta dyno runs.

The OBDII Port Tune Auto Flash product uploads code to both the ECU and TCU to provide improvements in power and in shifting speed. There are other somewhat similar products on the market as well. Some on here might be familiar with the Zeus flash. This is a similar concept.

However, even after the adaptation period, it's quite possible the changes made won't be 100% detectable by the driver behind the wheel. This is a product that will show improvements on lap times at the track, potential 1/4 mile ET savings, and even 60-130mph Vbox times depending on how many shifts it takes to make that run.

It's been said that the Ferrari F430 F1 transmission performs shifts in 150ms.

To put this in perspective, a human being blinks in between 100ms and 400ms.

I'll have another post to follow this one from a previous blog post of ours that provides additional details.

And for the record James and his company have performed excellently, so I want to ensure people understand that my OP was completely my impression about the product and nothing service related. It was my choice to buy it and I wasn't sold snake oil or anything like that, I am just saying that my initial impression of the product isn't great, but will certainly leave it in my car and see what happens over the rest of the summer.

Does "All is well" mean that he now experiences a meaningful difference with the tune? Will he be revising his review?
