    Hey,

As anyone who visits the F1 forum knows, I've recently moved my virtual self to the UK from here in California. [FWIW, I went the $55/year stronvpn.com route - There are free options, but they seem to come & go and have ad's etc.]

This has allowed me to get and use the BBC iplayer and the ITV equivalent - Very cool - Just finished re-watching China qualy (2.5 hours of it!). Kraftie's BTCC race is next ;)

However, another reason I committed was a desire for the new "Sky Go" app for the iPad/phone & Android - It promises multi camera split screen and the ability to select which you watch etc - Sounds very cool.

I needed my sons (in the UK) "Sky id" (linked to his account) and his UK App store login in order to get it, but it's now installed (along with the "Sky sports" App). He is a Sky sports subscriber, which is mandatory for using Sky Go for free.

However, when I login to Sky Go it tells me (him ;)) that he's gotta be a sports subscriber to use it! He is damnit!......

His theory is that he gets his TV via Virgin Media - He pays them, not Sky, and therefore Sky don't "know" he's got a subscription - This sounds like bollocks to me, but I can't see any other reason :(

When I (he) logs in to Sky I can't see anyway to "verify" exactly what he's buying - I can see he's paid his bill etc, but not what that's made up of.....

So, eventually getting to the point - Is there anyone here who gets their TV via Virgin and is also a Sky Sports subscriber with the Sky Go app?

    TIA, cheers,
    Ian

    Hmmph. Thanks for the answers.

That sucks monkey balls as they say. :(

Even though he's paying extra to get Sky Sports, he can't use the app!?

*That's* bollocks IMO. [Here in the States, I suspect the attorneys would be all over that for false advertising etc. ;)]

Oh well - in traditional fashion, "there's more than one way to skin a cat" - Someone else does have a "direct" subscription, so we'll give that a try once I get the info.

Is anyone using Sky Go? Specifically, the F1 channel? Is it any good, or am I wasting my time here?

I've gotta say, I really enjoyed the BBC's replays from China, so that's something :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

The F1 channel is ok, I don't really watch it but expect it to be filled with a lot of F1, current and past-time, latest news, highlights, live television, 5 hour studio previews before the grand prix ect.

Your son should probably contact Sky about this, they may even say no, because they just want direct Sky subscribers using the App.

The best thing about Sky for me was ESPN America and then the movies channel :D.

I use the sky go F1 Channel and it's pretty good if you can't watch it on the telly. I think it's worth it...

Thanks for the comments guys - Appreciated. The reviews are very mixed it seems - As with many "new" apps seems folk either love it or hate it.

    Poking deeper (and waiting for my "id") I realized I had to delete it as it "registers" my account and therein lies my problem. However, searching out reviews, I did turn this up which seems to contradict the above;

Hopefully, Tom has been in contact with Virgin to see WTF is going on.....

I'll report back once I get 'er going.

    Cheers,
    Ian
