I'll be traveling for two weeks so I thought what better time to drop off the car to Vinny (fyi: 201-266-8885) for a little TLC? The 355 went in for the brake & ABS light blinking (I couldn't figure it out ) and a check on the exhaust & the rag top is functioning at 90%. Might as well go for 100%. Vinny is amazing. Just from the descriptions, he has a handle on problem possibilities. And he remembered taking care of a gas smell on the 308 (upper nipple tank hose clamp came loose) over a year ago. Thankfully (for me anyway) instead of trying to squeeze yet another car in his shop, he has a lull as summer fades away. When I get back, she should be ready. I'll be taking the 308 in next as quiet time at Vinny's is a rare event as long as the winter rush hasn't set in. Oh, and what an amazing stable he had in the shop
Hi Clyde, I agree with you ... Vinny is a fine gentleman that knows the cars in and out. I'd sometimes drop in and he'd take a long time to talk cars, etc. I hope to see you one day there.
Vinny is good people!! He worked on my Ferrari and now works on my Maserati!! Amazing tech!! Why go to a dealer and pay outrageous repair bills when you have Vinny! And he makes an incredible espresso!
The 512i is due for an engine-out. I was going to post asking if Vinny is still the man. Seems like he is ... still The Man.
Thanks Jeff! To all: Vinny's flatbed guy sold the flatbed. I am in need of a reliable flatbed operator to get the Boxer from Manhattan to Auto Elite in Tenafly. Anyone care to recommend a name?
Vincenzo has serviced various ferrari models for me.. always perfect service and trustwothy pricing he has done full service on my 512BBi , which by the way is stored in his facility ... if you still need a flat bed i can ask a guy who lives in nyc and has many cars that vincenzo services i can ask him who he uses .. i also live in manhattan but drive cars to him or store them with him ..
what a gorgeous day! Took the 308 over to Vinny for a gas smell & slight warped rotor & to try & adjust the 308 hand brake - though I suspect the handbrake is a futile endeavor. Picked up the 355. A lousy pad sensor seems to have been confusing the ABS computer and so far, all is well. A broken exhaust clamp was the culprit in a funny exhaust tone. Met his brother Joe too! VERY nice guy and another Ferrari mechanic from NY/LI It was great driving the 355 home in this weather. Though lots of police, accidents and traffic.
About 7 weeks at camp but the 512i is back on the road. Folks: If ever I had doubt that you need a major service every 7 years or less, no longer. Never mind the "easy" stuff like the fact that the A/C compressor seized and the evap unit was totally blocked up and the rear clam struts died and the speedo sensor went funny. At least the car run. BUT: One belt was cracked, two valves were burned, and one valve was so trashed that when Vinny pulled it, it BROKE. The car had perhaps another 250 miles to go before SOMETHING very bad would have happened. Everything humming along now.
