POSTED THIS IN THE TECH AREA AS WELL:

    Anyone use this stuff?

    http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41yTnEIXOyL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

I just sprayed my expansion tank and I am getting near perfect, glass-like finish, on most of the tank and random grey/dull areas. I hit it again and I get new glass-like finish with new grey/dull areas.

    Am I missing something?
    Doing something wrong?

    Thanks!!!

Did you bake it at 200 degrees. It is required for curing I think.

    I thought about that.
Looks like the only VHT product that needs curing is the clear coat.

It's not consistent, which is most annoying.
There is no method to the madness.

    From the directions?

    Curing Engine Enamel

VHT Engine Enamel only attains its unique properties after correct curing.
    •Bake at 200°F (93°C) for 20 minutes.
•The inherent heat of engine operation will also accomplish curing.

You may not want to use the same oven you bake your potatoes in. They may taste funny.

    No doubt.
It is important to do this while wife is out. Then make a something in the oven and burn it. That hides the fact you cooked up contraband car parts in her oven.

    Strange.
Those instructions are on the clear coat can, not on the black.

I only use the oven for car parts.

    What wife?!?

Over in the Tech section, someone said my symptoms were due to humidity.
The humidity was pretty low today, so I did not think it was possible but blasted one last coat in doors (I am lucky that I am not married) and it came out perfect.

    So--
Even with low ambient humidity, it will have a significant affect/effect on the finish.

I was going to mention humidity, but seeing that you were in So Cal I figured it would not be the case. Also, hazy spots caused by humidity are referred to as "blushing". The thing is, this is typically associated with lacquer and varnish, not enamel.

I did that with no issues what-so-ever with the krinkle paint a few years ago, but I must admit I would not take a chance and do it again.
