How about the next time one of you effs-up you get benched? Retain Hulkenberg as a reserve driver to fill a vacancy if needed, you could probably sign him for a song. Still pay Vettel rather than buying out his contract.
Exactly. And Bino would be a great manager in that scenario. The lead driver / wingman formula is outdated, and the future belongs to teams that can manage two fast and competitive drivers without imploding.
The obvious observation - https://www.planetf1.com/features/ferrari-dynamic-wont-improve-until-vettel-leaves/
Massa was great especially for the money. He was the perfect number 2 driver that also showed some good promise and won some races and even a championship for about half of a lap. He was welcomed at Ferrari because he is exactly what Ferrari was looking for in a driver.
Lucas: Why go back to the boring #1/#2 structure? Much better than doing that would be going for two #1s, but having someone who's not error-prone as Vettel. And modern management, not the lazy boy favoritism combined with delusional strategies to favor SV that F pulled through much of the season. SV had already capitulated but F pulled him back up.
Luck in racing, and life, is often created by good decisions. Until Seb starts making good decisions he will not have better lick.
Seems to me that Vettel has stated that there is no such thing as luck, or maybe it was some other driver. Anyway, just read that Mattia states that he's GLAD they crashed NOW, so they can clear the air for NEXT YEAR! Wow, I like to be positive myself, but that's some world class stuff there!
Well, Ricciardo beat Vettel and kept Verstappen honest, despite Ricciardo had worse luck with reliability and Dr. Marko was in love with Max. I think he deserves a try at winning a championship.
i think some of the comments about what enzo would do are spot on..... enzo himself had only one objective - winning. and by winning i mean either the race, the wdc or the wcc, or more money from sponsors and car sales etc. and he would have looked at this situation and said right, a change must be made, there must be consequences.... he would give vettel the choice of sitting out the last race completely, or swapping seats with kimi. but he would not let him race a scarlet car. then, he would review the contract and revert to vettel and try to bully him out, and if that were not possible, he would use him as a test driver, and bring in somebody else for 2020. but however you want to slice it, if you look at all this through enzo's eyes, vettel is out. no question about it.
