    Hi Guys,

This is a bit weird. I went to move my Cali-T last night due to high winds. I last used it around 5 days ago. When I got in the car and started it I was very surprised to see one red bar of fuel and a limited mileage warning. I can't remember leaving it like this and to be honest I'd never let the fuel get so low...

I normally leave a minimum of half a tank and at the worse I'd always refill it when the low fuel warning comes on at 2 bars. I'm aware that the fuel pumps need fuel in the tank to help cool them. So I'm very puzzled.

I'm going to buy a 30L jerry can today and fill it up then check for leaks. I'm just a bit surprised by this. Possible fuel leak?

    TIA,
    Cinders.

That would be a lot of fuel to leak out and not smell a lot or form a puddle. Fill it completely, let it sit for a day, and if there is a significant leak, you'll know.

for me it is like one bar missing for an hour or so, then suddenly fuel reserve :)

    Mine does the same
3 bars then leave it for a week and one bar and fuel reserve
Also I’ve noticed the distance to empty is up and down I put it down to poor guage being a digital bar ( guages better)

I guess it must have been me... I filled it with 30L from a petrol can, then drove it to the petrol station where it took another 30L. 78L tank right? So there was still 18L of fuel in the tank - strange it was showing a single red bar with a limited distance warning.

Anyway - new rule - don't let it go under half a tank. :)

There an extra 100 miles or so on the odometer? You have any kids that can drive?

LOL. My six-year-old can't reach the pedals and I couldn't find any wooden blocks, so I doubt it was him. :)

If it was leaking fuel you would know fuel when it spreads out on the ground is really really smelly. It's extremely obvious

One of my best friends in college (early 1980s), who was 5 foot nothing, used to go up to Boca and "borrow" his dad's Lincoln Town Car when his folks were back up in NY. He had to sit on TWO Miami phone books to see over the wheel. :)
