your import duties and taxes are ridiculous which is why your cars are so expensive. Also, my understanding is that unless its a 67-68 or older... it is more difficult to convert the cars for legal road use there...

Range rover sports are actually not that bad but the big RRs certainly take a hit...i have an 2008 RRS SC which i paid 68k for (brand new sticker was 73k) in August 07, 3 years later and 17k miles i was offered 48. thats not that bad in my book...20k for 3 years.

I worry about 599s at current prices, especially considering how bad the 550s have been hit lately

I think the Mercedes S65 and CL65 AMG could take the price.

I saw a CL65 on the market in the Netherlands the other day, just over 2 years old with ~15000 kms on it, 350K euro incl taxes and a couple of options new, now on the market voor 125K Euro.

If you include fuel and servicing, tires etc..well over 20 Euros per kilometer. That's a pretty expensive way to travel!

    Texas of course!
Is 2005 cl65 any good? I mean, 600 plus HP and crazy torque, not bad traditional styling now for UNDER $40k? Or is the car an insane money pit maintenance wise?

I owned an SL65 and didn't have any issues outside of a dead battery once. One of my favorite engines of all time. The torque will spoil you.

HELL yes! A family member picked up an '05 Phaeton with 23,000 miles in 2008 for $24,995 CPO from Volkswagen.

It's a phenomenal car for what it is.

Once those overly electronic high priced cars come off warranty, the cost of upkeep and repairs kills their value.

Well his is a 4.2... apparently the Chicago dealer where he got it (Mike Haggerty?) refused to sell extended warranties on the W12 model.

They still ask high prices on the W12 models. Ask, of course.

CL55/65 has to be a contender. SLs drop like rocks too.

It's not just that. Luxury cars, especially luxury cars that aren't rare sports cars, are symbols of conspicuous consumption when new. But if they aren't new, you can't look like you spent a lot of money as the car is obviously not this year's model. Since peopel willing to fork out $100k plus ofr a luxury car want peopel to KNOW they shelled out that much, they won't BUY one that is't new, so the value tends to head back down to what is more fitting of it's acutal abilities as a car.

Horrible for the original ownerswho tend to prove the point by usually not keeping the cars for more thna 2-3 years (about the time that facelifted or replacement models come out), but great for those of us who like the styling and dynamics of that vehicle, but don't think you need to pay the luxury tax to get it, and dont' really care if it's a status symbol or not.

Which is why I have an E38 7 series BMW. I lov ethe car's style, comfort, amenities, and driving dynamics, but think it was stupid to buy it at $75k when it was going to be worth half that in a mere 2 years time. I actually paid $7500 for it when it was only 8 years old.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage has done remarkably well for an Aston.
Thought I'd be seeing these for 30K by now.

I had the extended warranty on my W12 Phaeton. Wher eVW really dropped the ball on the Pheaton was how to service a customer who buys a 130k$ car. The car was great. The dealer support sucked.
