my wife and 20 y. o. daughter and i will be in vegas in mid may. we are not gamblers so shopping and eating will be the activities. what would be a very good hotel at a good price for a weekend stay? are there any good happy hours to be had? any good bakeries for bfast goods? tia
Vegas casinos are enjoying their longest tenured run in recent history of billion-dollar monthly revenue. It's not showing signs of slowing down, and hotel prices reflect that. Park MGM (formerly the Monte Carlo) is a nice, new place that is well-priced with a good (especially Italian) food experience. Close to Fashion Show mall and lots of other fine shopping is always near of course. If you choose to stay during the week, hotel prices are usually up to 75% cheaper. Yes. There are honestly too many good places to drink and enjoy happy hour I can't really narrow them down for you. The good news is, wherever you stay there will be a good place on the property or right next to it! Enjoy your stay and thanks for coming!

Hells Kitchen- Between Caesars and Bellagio Craftsteak- MGM So many options but these are our favorites. Park MGM IS great and priced well- Same with Mandalay Bay but at far end of strip. Cheers
Wynn is the classiest hotel in my opinion Estaritorio Milo’s restaurant Catch Lakeshore at Wynn with show Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Another vote for the Wynn. Great food and a real nice hotel and casino Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
bellagio, wynn , venetian etc all coming in at $550 per nite. too rich for me. we dont gamble, only food and shopping and site seeing. i may do a $5 blackjack hand if that even exists. havent been to vegas in 30 yrs.
I've stayed at Mandalay bay several times. The last was late last year when you still needed a mask. I like the rooms. Some suites have really large sunken bath tubs. Its biggest problem is that its far away from the rest of the strip. You can take the tram but its a bit crude and not very fast. You could wait around as much as 20 minutes for it to show up. And it only gets you to Excalibur. Parking is easy. Restaurants fairly normal but nothing really outstanding. If you get a strip side room there is some airplane noise as you're right to the airport. It didn't bother me. Big casino area. Check in was pretty quick. The pool area is unique with a sandy beach, wave machine, and also a river innertube float. Also has a really interesting aquarium. My sister got comps at the Delano (which is a bit more upscale) and she liked it.
Are you willing to go off The Strip and try some joints out? Or, just Strip properties? If the latter, Gordon Ramsey Steak @ Paris, Le Cirque @ Bellagio are the best we've been to. If you go to Le Cirque, go early before the crowd arrives and see if you can man a table with a view of the Bellagio Fountains. I forget the table number, an F-chatter clued me in. Will try to find. If the white truffle supplements to the fixed price meal is available, upspend! Giada's place at The Cromwell was good. If you want a great view, dinner at the restaurant in the Eiffel Tower is worth it. Likewise, Mon Ami Gabi is great for people watching and you can see the Bellagio Fountains. If you can't get an outside seat, skip it. On the Strip, little gems...Holstein's at Cosmo, Secret Pizza also at The Cosmo, macaroons and croissants at Bouchon in the Venetian. If you want to get adventurous and a little down market, Vegas places we've enjoyed... Island Style on Sahara is a hole in the wall, and it's emphasis is Hawaiian food. Hawaiian Style Poke on Wynn. Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast. Jollibee on Maryland. Fried chicken and save room for a peach mango pie. Golden Steer steakhouse on Sahara. Hash House A Gogo, also on Sahara, for breakfast. Full disclosure, it's been awhile since we were in Vegas what with life and 'rona and such. Have fun! T
My buddy just got back from Vegas and had a great time. He did a Jet blue package weekend getaway and had a choice of hotels. He stayed at the Venetian and had a great time. The Jet Blue Package was a bargain he said. Thats all I know ...
My wife and I did a staycation at Mandalay for a concert at Allegiant stadium - they turn Hacienda overpass into a walkway for events. My only complaint was the bed was too soft and left me with back pain in the morning, and we did it too last minute to get any restaurant reservations, otherwise it was a great experience.
This is just one guy's opinion. We are in LAS 4x for 20-25 nights per year. We are always at Bellagio. If that is too pricey, Park MGM and Aria might be better deals. Venetian is all-suite and has a good variety of restaurants, Tom C. above cited Le Cirque. He was referring to me. Tables 92 or 93 are what you want, but if $500 / night is too pricey for you, I recommend you check menus. Le Cirque adopted (unless you are on their VIP list) a standard 6 and 10 course menu. The 6 course is $ 288 per person without wine. More modest dining options: Bavette's at Park MGM; Mon Ami Gabi (Paris -they do not take reservations for outside...have to sign up in person and wait). Jaleo in Cosmo is great. There is not one decent dining spot in Mndalay in my opinion and as Bob and others have pointed out, it's remote. They also pump the place full of some kind of stinky perfume. You might score a decent price at MGM but it is Mammoth...try L'Atelier Joel Robuchon and also Bouchon in the Palazzo Tower at Venetian is a good (not fantastic) French bistro. For shopping, the Premium Outlet Mall North is a good bet. You'll find everything you could imagine at Forum Shoppes at Caesar's. As others have said Wynn is lovely and everything is well done there. PM sent. We will be back May 1-6 to see Lady Gaga again.
Thanks Keith. I couldn't remember / find the table numbers you suggested to us. FWIW Le Cirque is easily the priciest meal my wife & I have had in almost 25 years of marriage, by a factor of 2, but it was worth it. Even the items I didn't like such as the beet velouté were interesting to experience, and the white truffle supplement was worth every penny. My wife and I still talk about it years later. If you're going to splurge, Le Cirque is my recommendation...T
The risotto (koshihikari rice) at Le Cirque with white truffles when in season is among the top five dishes I have ever had in my life. When we were last there over Xmas it was one of the six courses on the fixed menu. Freddie the Somm matched it up with a glass of Montrachet. Sublime
Is there a private restaurant on like the 10th floor of the Palazzo ? I maybe don't even have the hotel right - thought it was Asian ? A private club ? MDS
Amen. The rice & white truffles at Le Cirque is easily one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. As proof of my undying love for my wife, I let her have the last bite. But, boy, was I tempted to glom it down ! [emoji2] T
Ah I read it too fast I thought you were asking which was the Asian themed club. Not sure about private club. I’ll ask a friend in the nightlife biz.
As far as hotels... Bellagio, Wynn, Four Seasons and Venetian are top notch. If you are looking for an experience for dining. The SW Steakhouse in the Wynn will be a second to none dining experience. Try to sit on the patio if you can. You will not find better service. I promise.
