Nice to see the subtle differences in the various photo's, most significantly the side slots and the addition of the rear wing. I didn't realise that W2 wnt through so many colour changes! I think for me the worst changes/additions were the side-skirts and the later rear wing, with the supports integrated into the body; both really threw the original design off-balance.

Also enjoyed the Stutz link, they are waaaaay off the chart, but I always had a soft-spot for the full-sezed Blackhawk. The later shortened cars didn't cut it for me, it totally destroyed the design.

 

The high downforce wing was one of the earlier ideas. Quite functional, but proved to be unnecessary.

Oh i just saw this! great that its staying in Europe, do we know who the the owner is and if he / she is likely to show the car or is it going to disappear in to a private collection?

 

The new owner was actually the only VECTOR bidder in the room at the RM auction. All other VECTOR bids came from absentee bidders. So you may even have seen the new owner at the auction.
I hope to get his contact address soon.

 

It looks like he got a great price on it too. You could tell that there was enthusiasm in the bidding there.

 

$250k seems a heck of a deal to me on a basically new Vector W8! I would LOVE to have one of those some day!

 

Don't we have a W8 owner on this forum? I think he worked for them at one point?

 

At least two W8 owners... white 15 (photos on page 2) and yellow 12 are on fchat.

 

There are four W8s in Europe: Chassis 002, 007, 008(1990) and 017.

No, AUDI sold the W8-017 in April 2008 (see third car above).

Actually, the only W8 that is still missing is the red chassis 011 which was sold to Saudi Arabia via Qatar.
It is the W8 that was used for the W8 brochure photos.

didnt the original prototype have some kinda bench seat that could fit 3 across?

 

It was announced for the W2.
But then it took VECTOR to the WX3 until the three across seating was available:
