Boy I'm happy Brian and I went through Montana, Wyoming and the dakoda's Before they let the nukes out of the silos Just made it! No wonder we were able to drive through those states at 110 mph Gtjoey duck/dive/cover Counytach, looks like you wrapped the car for nothing
Good to hear it ran seamlessly GTJoey. That V12 is a gem. I must say, i'd never attempt that in my VQS simply because I wouldn't want the mileage and potential collateral damage. I respect that you had the balls to do so. A hero tick from me. Cheers
You do realize that the Aston 6.0 liter V 12 is two Ford 3.0 liter V 6's put together. That is probably why it is bulletproof. I met the head of the Ford Windsor Engine Plant while on vacation years ago. Joe
Joey, You are right as many know we have a long history with Ford and our 2005/2006 Ford GT's. Back in the day when Ford introduced the GT90 program their experimental v12 was in that car. Eventually to be used in our Aston Martin Vanquish as Ford decided to go with the V8 5.4 in the FORD GT. To all the newbies remember Ford owned, Aston, Jaguar,Volvo and Land Rover as apart of the premier group. That's why control arms and the radiator are off the Jags and so on.......... Great times.....it will all be in the new book. GTJOEY1314
you did what we all imagine doing...but don't have the balls to actually do. what a cool car story you know own and you did it in grand style!!! can you give us all a wear/damage assessment for the vang? thank you again for sharing.
Ferrari, I did but it got lost , hopefully it will pop up, if not all the details are on the AMOC web site. The car ran great, if someone is on the fence, jump in, for the money its a hell of a car! Its not a super car any longer but a wonderful GRAND TOURER with all the respect in the world. GTJOEY1314
+1. I decided I HAD to have a VQS 45 years ago and I'm glad I did. Values are on the rise and that is always a good guide. The last of the hand-builds from NP, beautiful and still a cracking drive. Choose carefully, you won't be disappointed in the car and as a bonus it may well become worth more than you paid for it.
the car I was going to look at yesterday sold before I got there. warwick Porsche had been consigning a 2003 w/ 11k miles. scott the salesman said that the car had zero activity for over two months and boom...yesterday they had 4 calls.
They call it the gtjoey effect! Where else can you own an Aston, last hand built to diy, not all but most and shell out over 60 percent less than the original cost! Just a wonderful ride! Image Unavailable, Please Login
joey, this vanquish would have been a good opportunity for me to get a recently serviced car w/~10k miles for under $70k. all the coils were replaced in 2015...so that was done. not sure about the clutch but still seemed to be a value on a true aston. I have been looking at vantage gt's w/ 6sp manual gearboxes. I am not sure what I would be happier with but I do think the vanquish will have greater long term investment appeal. I need to be more decisive!
The problem if you buy a VQ in the US for investment is that you cant drive it. The car over 20k miles are not selling or not selling well. Not sure if the gt joey effect will change that. These Aston, unlike in europe, are really handicapped when loaded with miles. May be that will change?
In my case it was the challenge for Brian and I These cars were 320 grand new I picked this one up for 62! A vanquish or a vette? I have and have had corvettes But a 2004 would be so boring, bullet proof but boring The whole British mystique a European classic just bumps up the game Return , I don't care , if someone can get Andy palmer to call Me this week I would be more than happy to ship it to the barn! How great once the book signing whirlwind is done! Gtjoey
I confirm that the original Vanquish/S is a FABULOUS car and the perfect GT car... That trip is really impressive, well done Joey ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I feel like I am among the few who really thought the car would make the trip intact. About the V12, it really is much more than simply two Ford V6s stuck together. That is the base architecture, but there is much more to it. That said, that being the base does have a lot to do with why the engine is very strong. Patrick, one way to solve the problem of cars with some miles being worth comparatively little is for ALL of us to DRIVE them! Not huge miles, but some -- it's good for them. Then there won't be any with no miles – 20,000 will become very low miles I'm driving mine! Pete, I'm fortunate to have a Vanquish S and a 2009 V8 Vantage. They are very different cars, and there can be little question that the Vanquish is the better investment. That said, Vantages are really bulletproof. I've had mine from new and it has been perfectly reliable. They are very different, and they are both wonderful.
I thought you would enjoy this Back home and filled with gas ready for the welcome home party next month I'm Not washing it till after the get together The journey badges look great covered in mud! One thing for sure the open roads in excess speeds was so much better than ten stop signs and a railroad train stop in a quarter mile🙄 Enjoy Gtjoey1314 Image Unavailable, Please Login
