On my 85' 400i the part of the valve guide where the seal seats is around .7mm too long. When I install the seal, as soon as it seats, it rips off the top half of the seal!
    Whats the story?
Am I doing something wrong or do I have the wrong guides?

    It could be the seal.

Some "OEM" valve seals are ****.

I've been told that I don't need to seat the seal. Just tap it down until it feels snug.
I don't understand why they would put a shoulder on the guide if the seal never touches it.
