I recently looked at a 80's V12 A/T (first time seriously scutinizing...) and I had a question... How heavy is the torque convertor, relatively speaking? I ask because the engine didn't seem to rev up as quick as I expected. It also didn't feel like 300+ HP, but I guess that could be gearing and/or weight... Maybe a better question is... What was the 0-60 MPH (0-100 KPH) times when these cars were new? I'm looking at another A/T in the next day or 2 so I may find an answer myself... TIA
the gearbox specs are pretty much the same as any other GM300 box, as for 0-60 time.......they make the car look slow on paper, from 50-90 is a far far better measure of how good these cars really are
Oh my...then performance should be about that of a V12 Jag of around that era...namely not very fast from a dead stop.
My 400i isn't real speedy from 0-60.... but 50 to 90 well now you can't measure that; it happens NOW. Anyone ever noticed how fast your 365/400 goes from 65 to 125?
Not me. Not yet. Maybe after I get two new front tires... as the triple digits get close, I feel my car "floating" a bit. Hopefully new tires will get it settled down. Has nyone else noticed this?
