Does anyone have any more info on this 77 GTB with a V12 replacing the V8?? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think you can do a search and come up with more info. From memory: There were 3 of these cars made, all after-market, but done well. I think at least one is still alive, but the owner has a 328 engine in the body while the V-12 is being rebuilt. Try search, this was discussed not too long ago. James in Denver
I hope it has hydraulic lifters and spark plug changes are required only when an engine overhaul is mandated.
Key in: "308 V12 conversion" and/or "David Goldsmith" (the man responsible for the first conversion and who published a book about it).
Also check with Atlantaman... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/member.php?u=1223. He has done the swap but I think he has the 12 out right now.
I have an original copy of the David Goldsmith how-to book that was sold when the car first was done. It includes all the instructions of how to build a 308 V12 conversion. I also have a copy of the original article published about the car in (I think) Road & Track entitled "Recipe for smoked Testarossa".
Hello, the Goldsmith car is now in Germany and needs a decent restoration. Best Regards from Germany Martin
never seen that pic with the engine in.... outstanding. damn i wish they had made one like that, but with the BB series, i can see why not!
Sir, Is there anyway I can get a copy of Goldsmiths mongraph re the V12 308. Mine is a stock black 1979 308GTB. I can't sleep. The prospect of a 400+hp V12 in my 308 has sent me into shock. Thx. JerryTurney [email protected]
Well, having read through Goldsmiths "book", I find it very intriguing and doable. Its funny more werent completed. Now I can see how people have fitted small block Chevs onto the stock gearbox. Very interesting. So, anyone know what a 330 or 365 engine goes for these days???
The 365, 400 & 412 4cam engines are all the same basic design. Cost in UK from $6000 up. For $12000 you get the whole car.
And that is why GOD gave us the sawsall With a sawsall and a complete lack of common sense I once fitted a cadilac 500ci engine into a fiat x1/9....compared to that, a 412 into a 308 would be a walk in the park...
Here's a good engine build for a 412 engine.....the intake ports are int he wrong place on a 412, they are between the cams....you'd need to add a supercharger to get good hp out of it http://www.carobu.com/html/365_c_4_page_2.html
