If you don't find a buyer, you should consider donating it to the USMC Museum in Quantico, VA.

When I was in the 431st TES at McClellan AFB (now defunct), we had a log book from WW-II with names like Bong, McGuire, MacDonald, etc. Always wondered what happened to that when the unit was disbanded.

Just saw this and I'm so disappointed. My Commemorative Air Force Wing operates a TBM Avenger marked as aircraft P87 "Doris Mae" as assigned to VMTB-143 while embarked on the USS Gilbert Islands. I currently crew chief her, when not onboard, photograph her, with the goal of eventually piloting her. That log book would have been great to have, to help tell her story.

I have my dad’s log book. Go PBY Black Cats!

Don’t know what I’m going to do with it. Maybe donate to a museum?

Whatever you do, don't let it get lost in a trunk or something. It is a valuable treasure and a bit of history of the brave souls who fought in WW2 as well as a monument to your dad. He never realized the great thing that he was doing as he entered his time in that logbook but he made it possible for us to be who we are today. HONOR THAT LOG BOOK!

Thank you. Except for my daughter and new grandson, I'm the last of the line. I'm thinking I'll see if the Navy Museum in Pensacola might be interested.

    Dale,

The museum in Pensacola is the best option.

I have collected old original material for years. AF, USN, USMC, and reserve units. You cannot take it with you. True.

No idea about VF-96A. I cannot find any information about this squadron. My guess, it is an immediate post-war USNR unit.

I took my real Cutlass patch, to the museum in Pensacola. Just picked up a 412 F.S. chenille patch with pictures of some of the squadron members and officers. They flew Jugs in the ETO.

Please allow me to occasionally spam the board and showboat a few items from my collection. Most people just don’t care for the airplanes from the golden era. Really enjoyed talking to the vets and get them going on the telephone. Amazing stories they told me over the years.
