Thinking about trading in my Roma for an F8 spyder. Just now doing my research on current market value and thought I would ask here what you guys are seeing out there.

There is a local 2021 spyder with about 2800 miles that is nicely speced. They are wanting about $90k over msrp. Is that what they are currently going for? Seems high to me, but don't really have much to compare it too yet.

Way too high and that is their “asking” price. They are “selling” for 50-60k over msrp. Tons of inventory sitting as people are hoping to get last years pricing. Unfortunately, the current market is not the same as 6 months ago.

There is VERY little inventory-- I can't understand when you guys say things like this... example- there are 35 TOTAL 2021 F8 Tributos available in the entire country!! lol @ tons... and each year and trim (Tributo or spider) is the same 30-35 cars and a grand total of about 200 cars (~100 of each variant) over 4 model years of production.... INSANELY LOW availability. SO that's an avg of 4 cars per state!!! How else can I explain this is EXTREME LOW AVAILABILITY? Now if you want a certain color- let's say black- there is exactly ONE total Tributo available and 6 Spiders.... how anyone can keep saying lots of inventory is just mind boggling- sorry mike but WTF? How is that 'Tons of inventory'?

lol, you deleted your comment; now it looks like I'm arguing with myself hahah

Without pulling up Cargurus or Cars.com, is that the entire used inventory for Ferrari certified cars only? 35 isn’t an insignificant number either for the price range and model year in my opinion.

With it now being winter and the roads not ideal to drive on for some of the country, I suspect those cars will be easier to negotiate on if you live in snowy areas.

Please go look at carguru, autotrader, cars.com and Ferrari pre-owned site. There is tons of inventory. Right now there are 102 tributo available and 115 spiders available. (For reference there are 272 total 488 available and not sure anyone can argue there is “low inventory” of those).

This does not include cars sitting on the showroom floor or cars not listed on those sites. I was just at one dealer a few weeks ago and they had 6 F8 sitting there for sale. Ferrari of Naples/palm beach have 12 available online.

Go to your local dealer and ask for a trade number on your F8. I guarantee you it will be well below msrp. As my F8 was just for sale I have been actively involved in monitoring the market and talking to as many people as I can.

this is the same argument you always try to make and I hate to break it to you but in the Ferrari world the F8 is not rare. They made tons of them and there is tons of inventory available for sale.

my comment wasn’t deleted. It is post #2.

Btw, I just counted the ones listed at Ferrari dealers only (https://preowned.ferrari.com/en-US). There are 145 F8 listed on just the Ferrari dealer websites. A lot of these are not on cargurus, etc. We must have very different views as that is a ton of inventory. The market of potential buyers is not that big and that is a very large selection of colors and options to pick from.

I am not saying tons of inventory compared to a Ford F150. I am talking about in the world of super cars and the market that can afford it. You need to compare apples to apples.

So if trade value is below MSRP, you still feel dealers can sell them for $50k above MSRP?

Should I be trying to aim for MSRP? Or am I dreaming?

Trade value is below msrp for the tributo. They are selling for just above msrp. For the spider the trade value is higher, above msrp, and they are selling for 50k above.

as you mentioned a 2021 spider I’d aim for 40-60k above msrp would be a good deal.

Yes, this is just an interpretation of what is a lot and what is rare— if you think 102 or 145 or 207 or any number anywhere near those numbers is a lot and a ton of inventory, then I just don’t know what to say. There are two variants of the car over 4 model years which leaves about 25-30 of each variant in each year— which isn’t exact since 23 is only spiders and of course they don’t go for sale evenly- either way, 1,2 or 300 cars over 4 model years is quite rare and hard to find. Especially once you decide you want a certain color and certain specs. And once you do that, many probably can’t find the car they want at all. If someone wants my color combo which, to me, isn’t anything super weird or rare at all, which is Nero over Rosso Scuderia, there are exactly NONE available— you’d think with a ton of inventory, one could find a black/red F8 right? Oh and then maybe you want race seats and a lifter or passenger display- good luck finding such a simple spec with ‘all that inventory’ out there. And lastly, I’ve already done exactly what you said the day before thanksgiving- well not exactly, I didn’t go to Ferrari for a buy figure but I did go to two other exotic stores. One was 23k over sticker at 361 and the other was at 18.5k over -356.5- Sticker is 338,xxx with 5950 miles. And those are ‘buy figures’ so they would certainly try sell retail for 375-390, I’d imagine. So…. Again, I’m never trying to say they’re rare when they’re not— availability is about exactly the same as McLaren 720S’s, About 2/3rds as many as 488’s, less than half as many as Huracans, about 80 more than 458’s and only 5% as many as 911’s— so, other than the Porsches, all those mentioned ARE RARE and low availability. And values are also holding exactly where they were in early 2023.

Chris , is the 90k over considering your trade at list / MSRP by chance ? Also , don’t be bashful make them an offer as not much is selling at the moment and F8 prices are going south at the moment with mostly everything else.

I haven't even spoken to them yet, but I don't think the Roma is going to be close to msrp. My msrp was around $350k, I am expecting it to be at minimum a $60k loss, just comparing it to what's out there.

My friend just sold a 2023 F8 Spider Rosso Corso back to the dealer for $60K over.

I would agree that $90K is a little high but you can always negotiate on the secondary market.
Make an offer at $60K over and see where it goes?

I am not going to touch the conversation of what is "a lot", as that is so subjective.
However, F8 deliveries are finished, the last F8 spider delivered in first week of November. Mine delivered last week of October.
With no more cars entering the market, I believe you will see the number for sale come down as the people who were flipping them from new are almost done.

I heard from my SA that they made fewer F8 than Pistas, so I think we have a good investment. Plus it isn't bad to drive!

Big difference between a 2023 spider and a 2021. No way the 2021 spider is anywhere near 90 k over at the moment.

Yes, I mentioned this production number possibility between Pistas and F8 a while ago… due to covid production in 2020 and only spiders in 23, it’s basically a 2.5 yr production run and have also heard and surmised that F8’s may be lower than Pistas.

Just quoting production numbers (or supply) only tells half the story when the context is either resale or scarcity, or a combination of both (resale scarcity?).

Without knowing the demand, the supply side numbers are really meaningless.

For example, there are less Romas made than either the F8 or Pista, even if we are just eyeballing the numbers.

But no one is going to argue that a Roma either has better resale value and/or is more scarce than an F8 or Pista. Why? Because the people that want a Roma are far fewer than those that want a Pista or F8.

Well said. It follows the laws of supply and demand. Right now the number of actual buyers of F8 is far less than the supply. The number of available of cars has steadily increased over the last 12 months. Which means there is a lot of inventory.

When there was a lot of demand and very little supply the pricing was higher and very little inventory. This is not unique to the F8 but applies to across the board. 5 years down the road maybe demand picks up again and there will be less inventory but very hard to predict the future.

There is no way of possibly knowing the numbers but let’s assume in any given month there are 25 actual people looking to buy an F8. If there are 250 available that means there is a lot of inventory to pick from.

In February 2023, there were 101 F8 Tributos available. There are 107 now- no change entire year.

My dealer just offered me msrp back on my tributo. This was an unsolicited offer so they must have lots of interest out there. I said no thanks. A buddy just bought a used grey tributo in SFO for 35k over msrp after a lot of back and forth and a year of looking around the USA. Just two data points from high income tech cities but it is what it is….

I paid 41 over in February for mine (which at the time was quite the deal compared to all others I saw listed because it was consignment)- I believe it would sell for the same right now (or more with my carbon engine bay and s-duct [emoji23])
