Thought some of you folks might be interested in this. I made up this map of what I think is all the current (and some closed) aircraft factories in the US. I think I got them all, but probably missed a couple. I added a bit of information on prior owners of the factory as well as what aircraft they currently make if you click on each location. They're roughly categorized, all thats a bit dicey since some plants made both fighters and transport planes, or bombers and commercial jets.

If I missed any let me know and I can add them.

What’s your timeframe? Because there were like 5 in the City of Cleveland, the Wright Company in Dayton. Waco was in Ohio, the Cleveland Bomber Plant built B-29s, a bunch of stuff was built in Columbus by NAA.

I can tell you that you are missing Aero Commander/Rockwell/Gulfstream in Bethany Oklahoma (closed), Ted Smith Aerostar/Piper Aerostar in Santa Maria, CA (closed), Lancair/Cessna in Bend Oregon (closed), Epic Aircraft in Bend Oregon (operating), Van's Aircraft in Aurora Oregon (open but in bankruptcy), American Champion, Burlington Wisconsin (operating) and Waco Aircraft in Battle Creek MI (operating), to name just a few.

I'm sure there are many that I missed.

Ahh, I was focusing on turbine powered stuff, but I can add a layer for historic plants and General Aviation ones.

Don't forget Convair/General Dynamics in San Diego (closed), North American/Rockwell in Columbus, OH (closed) and both Bell and Convair in Buffalo (closed). Also, Martin had a plant in Omaha (closed) and Piper has a plant in Vero Beach, FL (operating).

You may want to note that Grumman had occupied the Republic/Fairchild plant in Farmingdale, NY before they did, and similarly Bell occupied the Lockheed Martin plant in Marietta, GA before they did. (In fact, locals sometimes still call it the "Bell Bomber plant".)

Very interesting. On the historic aircraft from L-M in Ft Worth, you can add the F-111.

I think you can also add B-24 and B-58 and components of the F-22. And additional names: Consolidated and Consolidated Vultee.

There was also a North American Aviation factory in Grand Prairie, Texas that manufactured AT-6s, B-24s and P-51s during WWII. It became something else later but I don't remember what.

Aero Commander (Bethany OK) and Epic (Bend, OR) both made/make turbine aircraft.

Also Swearingen/Fairchild in San Antonio Texas, where they made the Merlin/Metro turboprop airliners.

Believe it or not ORD or Orchard field started as a Douglas C54 DC4 plant during WWII that made over 500 of them. If you are counting motors, all the WWII B29 motors were built at a Chrysler/government/military plant during WWII one block from Midway airport that was built from scratch just to make B29 motors.

Lancair/Cessna was in my first post, but then he said he only wanted turbine aircraft manufacturers.

I think he didn't quite realize how many aircraft manufacturers the US has, or had!

Added the Wright Company, Waco and NAA.
Based on what I could find the 'Cleveland Bomber Plant' only ever built wings for the B-29, and never built complete aircraft. I'm going to leave that off as I don't want to go down the rabbit hole of trying to add suppliers.

    Added them, thanks!

Add them, although I'm not sure I got the location of the Saberliner factory right, looks like an awfully small building.

Added those, the Marietta plant is actually owned by the Air Force as Air Force Plant 6.

    Added!

Thanks for the help guys! Keep em coming, It takes awhile to figure exactly where some of these old plants were. I'll get to the rest when I get some more time.

    Grumman and the Gulfstream line.

Bethage produced all G-Is and the earliest G-IIs.
Grumman still owned Gulfstream and continued the G-II production in Savannah.
Gulfstream production has continued in Savannah with all subsequent models although the ownership has changed over time. G-III, G-IV, G-IVSP, G-V, G300, G400, G500, G550, G650, G700. There are 2 completely different series of G400 and G500.
G100, G150, G200 and G280 are all built by Israel Aircraft Industries in Tel Aviv.

The Martin Bomber was built at 16900 St Clair Ave Cleveland. The building then became Great Lakes Aircraft. The building still stands and the field has been redeveloped.

Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth plant is actually Air Force Plant 3 and the Palmdale plant is Air Force Plant 42.
