I've been noticing lately when I drive over speed bumps, when I come down on the other side, I hear a clunk coming from the left front.
Last night I pulled the front wheel....pulled up and down on the wheel beforehand to make sure it wasn't the bearings...all tight.

I noticed that the rubber boot on the upper ball joint was torn and there wasn't any grease inside.

I looked on Ebay and have found them to be around $88.00 each. ( I'll do both )

It looks to be a straightforward job of just unbolting the old ball joint and replacing it. Anything I should know before I get in there? It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the coilover so I'm assuming I don't need to compress the spring or anything like that.

    Any insight would be helpful.

you may use a special tool to seperate the cone of the ball joint.
why not just do all 4, so the upper and the lower?

Oh, it's not that lol. That's why I'm doing both upper ones even though there's nothing wrong with the driver side.
I haven't done this job before so I want to ease into it.

I do have the separation tool..same one I used to remove the tie rods from the steering knuckle.

Is there any problem with the shocks? It doesn't look like it...but thought I would ask.

    Hahha.....Joe got jokes today lol

Seriously though, any issues with the shock. I don't want to unbolt something and it goes boink!

Just support the lower control arm with a jack Shamile if it looks sketchy.
