May is Laguna. June maybe Detroit.
That makes Lime Rock the most practical solution. I dont think the group wants to run a city course like Baltimore (lots of pucker factors with those concrete walls everywhere) and the others are not really East Coast centric. Although I would argue that Mid Ohio is not much further from (say) NY than Florida; or Lime Rock is as far from Florida as Mid Ohio. Horse of a different color though !
Is there going to be a Mardi Gras (Feb 21st) FCRA event? If so, I am so in! What is the likelihood of getting a room in NOLA around then?
If Fat Tuesday is the 21st that certainly isn't the cheapest weekend to be in town, even if you can find a room.
darn, I hope Daytona works out and I really want to do that one, but already have something that weekend. hopefully the round 3 is a cool track and weekend I'm available. right now in for NOLA in October!
I will get rooms. It's festive at this time in New Orleans but just the beginning of Mardi Gras so not too bad. But I promise to host a little party at my place
Sweet! It's about an 9 hour tow from our home base at MotorSport Ranch. I'll bring the party bus. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Limerock gets the Ferrari challenge in July, that would be a great show for FCRA , I can't imagine that could happen......I can dream can't I ........
Tremblant is a much better track then Limerock and has great accomodations. This track is like Elkhart or the Glen and hosted the Challenge for many years. (It was one of everyones favorites.)
They run the Ferrari Experience there and there is a superb hotel in town. But getting the rigs in and out of Canada can be a pain. Radios all need licenses and other nanny stuff like that. But a wonderful track.
Little mention of venues west of the Mississippi? I would think there are a fair amount of Challenge cars on the west coast? I also like Barber.
Barber is brutal in the Summer - the whole Mid West can be like the experience you all had in NJ this past Summer. Racing out of TX we had the NJ experience virtually every time we were out on track from May through October with ambients over 100 by noon and 95+ through midnight. Takes some acclimation to handle that few of us living in perennial A/C have either the time or will to deal with. Some of the NASCAR guys do yard work in sweats for 2 or 3 hours as a proxy but they have some strong incentives. Point is that heat and humidity are tough. Not that Florida is fun in July either.
The NASA event planned for New Years Eve has been cancelled because the track was not ready. A representative from NOLA has posted on a NASA website that their first event will not be until March 3-4. (And this was after they confirmed the NASA event just a week or so before!) John, you might want to put a call in to make sure the Feb event was not cancelled without them telling you.
Road Atlanta IMO is one of the country's great tracks. Our cars love (again IMO) the big, high speed tracks like Sebring, the Glen, Road Atlanta, Mosport, Road America, to pick a few. You will never go to Homestead again after driving one of those tracks. If we had to go technical, I'd take Mid Ohio in an instant. Make me go to Laguna or Sears Point, I beg you. But it's not that easy. These first tier tracks are in great demand, and there aren't all that many weekends in a race season. John has a tough task in putting together venues.
