It has been a while. 3 years since I started building this Pocher Testarossa. As someone pointed out: "Pocher Ferraris are neither well made, nor very detailed, considering their size. For those models to be made to look good, one needs to pretty much scratch build half the car all over." He is right and my previous threat showed what I accomplished practically rebuilding the kit from scratch. But even though it looked good, I wasn't too happy about it. Moreover, my intention was to make a Pocher "Miami Vice" Testarossa. Found out that the interior was not tan but cream. So, I had to re-leather all the interior again, a process that was tedious and time consuming. So I left the Pocher in stand-by for quite some time. With the latest threats about Miami Vice, I am once again in the mood of reviving what I really want it to be the Ultimate "Miami Vice" Pocher Ferrari Testarossa. So here are the latest news.
I made some cutting to the chassis and upgraded the interior which is the main attraction. Put the grille on the speakers, re-leathered the dash so the line in the middle is centered, re-sculpted the corners of the dash, added the glass frames on the central console, made a new rear view mirror, re-designed the doors, etc, etc, etc.
To complete the interior, I only need to finish the pilot door and some other minor details; then I will focus on the engine which also needs a major upgrade. Here are pictures of what I have done so far, more pictures will be added when I finish the other door:

So, I finally completed the interior of my pocher Testarossa. Although there are still some minor flaws, the whole interior looks nice. Now the pilot's door is finished, made a key holder according to scale, gave the wiper and wiper arm a better look and fixed the steering wheel. My previous one had a grainy look simulating leather but didn't look right so I removed it.
These pictures will show all the effort and dedication I put into this model. There is still a lot to do with the exterior. Hope I can do better.

Thanks for posting the pictures PAP 348, I am running out of space.
Indeed it took many, many hours, years to do it. The Pocher Testarossa is a nice model but terribly designed. As I said, everything has to be rebuilt in order to look good. And sometimes you just give up and don't want to finish the kit because of the extra work. In my case, I made many modifications and stuck in the middle. I saw the beautiful Ferraris 1/12 kits from Tamiya and imagined that a Testarossa would be next. But then, knowing that it would not come up soon, I got motivated again and said "let's do it."
I will keep up with my good spirit and finish the rest. I already made good progress with the chassis and engine. I will post more pictures when I finish the engine. Thanks again for posting the pictures.

  6. That's some really great work. Any before interior pictures?

Wow, that looks amazing. I wish I had the patience and attention to detail that you seem to have. You mentioned Miami Vice, are you going to paint it white at some point?

Thank you. You need to have patience and dedication if you really want to make a difference.
Of course, I bought this pocher because I want it to look as the Miami Vice Testarossa.
I did not make my research well and used tan for the interior. After watching the real car on the Swap shop in Florida and with more photos and videos of the show, I realized that the interior was cream. That is where I got stuck and left the project unfinished. Then, after some posts of Miami Vice by Scaledetails, I revived the project and took the time to re-leather everything again. This was ok because there were some flaws on my tan interior that I could repair and used a different carpet color.
Looking the interior this good, I will try not to make any more mistakes and will hire the best painter in my area, so the model will look as close to the original.

  10. Very motivating. Your engine looks great as well. I have a Pocher Fiat sitting in the box. Some day I need to tackle that thing.

I am improving the engine by re-sculpting the intake manifolds. Pocher did terrible with such visible part.

Hope it's ok to bump this thread. I'm currently rebuilding the Spider version and found this thread extremely interesting. Hope mine gets at least near halfway as good as yours.

A thought, have you considered placing electronics for the lights in the car? I thought I would try that on mine and see if it works out. If so, maybe we can work together on it. I'm working on the details and the schematics for exterior and interior lights. I want to make as many of the real lights as possible. The problem I'm facing is to figure out the function of everything. The original schematics from Ferrari isn't all that clear.

    Good job on this. Magnificent.

The leather works is incredible! How did you do it? Your work has inspired me to attempt to redo the interior of my build. I saw your other post with some of the in-process pics but would welcome any additional pointers/tips/advice you may have.
