Hello all. In the market for a F355 GTS - prices seem to be going a bit silly at the moment!! What is the collective opinion on the price differential for a good left hooker?
Hi Martin, that's a very good question! You're right that prices for right hand drive 355s are going very silly here in the UK and left hand drive can be around 10-15k less depending on all the service history, mileage and condition etc. I just bought an amazing right hand drive 348ts and looking at Autotrader and Pistonheads they all seem to be left hand drive which bring the prices up for rhd. It's all relative for when you come to sell and not as easy if you need to cash in quick. Look at some of the specialists and see what they have too. Good luck.
Prices for F355's will not be going down and will only increase. You are lucky in UK as they are a great deal cheaper over there than here in Australia where a decent F355 is over A$100k (about 65k GBP). In fact a great deal of UK Ferrari's (especially the 360) have been exported from the UK to Australia in recent years and this "demand" has in turn had an affect on UK prices. With regards to your question. When I lived in the UK in the early 2000's I had a LHD 1992 348TB imported from Germany. I purchased this for 25k GBP at a time when the RHD UK cars were 35k GBP and above. So I'd say about 10k GBP less for a LHD over a RHD as a rough figure. Although I just checked Autotrader and some of the LHD cars are not cheap! Perhaps there is a market for selling back good quality LHD cars back to Europe? Prices make me think that's the case. The car was a Sunday driver and I never had any issues with LHD over RHD. I enjoyed owning it. I wish you all the best with your search.
I think the UK is a special/weird market. HK/Singapore are probably the 2nd weirdest markets for RHD. LHD car prices when viewed on Euro specific web sites seem sensible, and there are lots on offer. Italy and Spain seem to have slightly cheaper prices on the whole. I think what is happening in the UK, is that there are fewer RHD cars for sale and the prices have gone crazy. So the enterprising dealers (aka lying scum bags) have decided that in the absence of RHD cars they'll flog LHD cars at near RHD prices and bag themselves plenty cash. So if you can live with a LHD car in a RHD country go shop for it in Europe.
