Does anybody have knowledge of how much royalties are for a TV series? For example, what would one of the "b" actors in an hour long 80's show like Dallas get? Not the leads but the second tier people. I know YMMV a huge amount but I'm curious if anybody has input on how these deals were structured. Thanks.

I remember reading that it is a declining scale starting at 13% of original pay for the first re-run down to around 1% after many re-runs for anytime the show is shown.

The SAG website has a copy of the points of their recent contract which has rerun royalties in it. Any main actor will negotiate their own rate, but the minimums are listed there.

It's going to vary according to their contract and also if they were a principle, guest star, co-star or say just a five and under (actor/actress that has five lines or less).

Let's put it this way. Jerry Seinfield probably still makes around seven digets for the reruns but the other actors "only" make $100k a year for the reruns. He was an exec producer along with being the star. How do I know this? It was in the trades when the Sienfield DVD's were about to come out.

I was actually referring to the fictional Jerry Seinfeld and the $0.12 royalty checks he got from a 1 second spot on the "Super Terrific Happy Hour", a popular show in Japan. Sorry...I'm a Seinfeld junky. :(

Are you saying you think guys like Richards or Dreyfus are only making $100K/yr on the royalties? I would have thought it's quite a bit more. A huge number of shows that seem to be running almost continously. Following that logic, my "b" grade actor/co-star in a Dynasty or Dallas role is probably making <$10K year.

I make more money than that from people reading my classic postings on the "old" Ferrarichat board.

These pretsels are making me thirsty.. I wonder how much Gary Burghoff from mash makes. An old show like that was on like12 years wasnt it. He was not a main star like Alan Alda but the show has been running for 33 years. JJ

OJ must have starred in "Super Terrific Happy Hour". :)

"Last year Simpson's royalty checks from all of his movies were less than 39 cents," Galanter said.

Imagine if he could have collected royalties on his Bronco chase and trials.....
