Maybe it's like swallowing a box of Pop Rocks with a Coke chaser. You explode... (or so I've heard).

Yeah, but I haven't hooked up the little water thingy for the back of the fridge, so no icemaker.

Hearburn is generally caused by elevated levels of acid in the stomach... Coke happens to be very acidic. Also, Tums is very basic. Mixing Coke and Tums is kinda like the old Volcano science fair project... mixing vinegar and baking soda. The acid-base reaction gives of water and carbon dioxide gas. The gas is probably what is "crawling up your throat". The mixture shouldn't hurt you, but it also won't be very effective against your heartburn.

I always heard coke will settle your stomach, and actually I found it works.

Things like tums are not basic, they are buffer solutions, and will "absorb" varying pH's and equalize them.

Try guzzling the coke first, if it doesnt help, take tums to equalize :)

My very non medical advice! :)

I've seen Coke clean off the build-up off of lead acid battery terminals pretty well so ya...you should be okay with coke and tums in your tummy
