After three months of work on a frame off restoration we are getting close to painting my TR6. Wanted to get some suggestions from you guys on what color I should paint it, currently have a biscuit interior sitting in boxes ready to be installed. Was thinking the standard BRG mixed with some black to darken it up a bit so the car looks green in the daylight and almost black at night. Appreciate your input. Please consider resale as part of your decision.

Frame off in progress. Frame sand blasted/reinforced and painted. Diff pins replaced and boxed for added strangth. Suspension was powdercoated and rebuilt. New brake calipers with SS lines all around. Richard Good R300 diff with LSD conversion installed. Body was sent to the soda blaster to find out just what was underneath the paint. We discovered that the car had been hit and poorly repaired on the drivers side-sheet metal damage only.

My business partner has a bright red TR6, which I love. If it were mine, I'd definitely go with BRG. There are definitely different BRG's over the years. My old 73 MGBGT was very dark with a leaning more toward a blue-green than a yellow green.

x2 on the French Blue. There is a weird (rare) orange color that I really like on a TR6 too.

But more important that color......make sure you buy some nice redline tires for it.

Thanks everyone for the replies, we should be wrapping up the body work next week and be ready for paint so I need to make a decision soon. Ill be sure to post updates/photos. Going back and forth between white and BRG, origianl color was Java.

On a side note I picked up the engine today from the dyno, made 208 hp at the flywheel. Not too bad for an old tractor engine.

Jeff, that's a cool color too. Is it called "Pimento Red"?

I have a couple of old TR6 brochures in my collection. I don't have an illustrated color chart, but my 1973 brochure lists the available colors as:

Emerald, Mallard, Sapphire, French Blue, White, Mimosa, Pimento, Carmine, Sienna, and Magenta.

TR6s are great cars. 208 HP in yours will be a lot of fun. I've always thought the lighter French Blue looked sharp. Mine was white and I loved every minute of it, wish I still had it...

It looks like Jaguar racing green. My Dad painted a couple of his British cars in that color. Great color.

Wow you know your greens, it is jaguar racing green with a small amount of black added to darken it slightly. Engine bay is from my friend's MGB restoration he performed a few years back.

Alright, looks like its going to be green. Will post some photos of the paint process as it progresses. Spent a little more time with the engine on the dyno and got to 220 fwhp and 210 ft/lbs of torque. Body work will be finished Friday so hopefully we can start paint next week!

Dave that looks like Carmine red. This is not my car but a excellent picture of one. The best looking color in a TR6 in my opinion
