After going back and forth on this, all I read on the internet is that this beautiful paint is Rosso Fuoco (Fuoco means Fire in Italian).... Yes, its a triple layer paint, some call it Nuovo Rosso. But as triple paint rosso no such thing exists. End of quest. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There are 2 different red triple layer paints (might be more!) - 'Rosso Fuoco' and 'Nuovo Rosso Formula 1' (full name according to the PPG paint sticker under the bonnet of my car). This is 'Nuovo Rosso Formula 1'. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nuovo rosso does exist and is a special order triple layer paint. It is different to rosso fuoco and is much brighter in duller lighting conditions (where rosso fuoco tends to look darker and more like rosso fiorano). Nuovo rosso is the paint used on the F1 race cars. The full name that Ferrari refer to this colour by is Nuovo Rosso F1 2007.
This is Rosso Fuoco. In photos Rosso Fuoco and Nuovo Rosso sometimes look very similar and sometimes very different - they are very different when next to each other so you need to see them in the flesh. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Will be just easier if we can get the names of all the "triple red paints" as this is very confusing.... My dealer says only Fuoco and Formula Scuderia Red (I guess the F1) ... So you guys think that basically the red in my first post is actually triple paint Scuderia Red and not Fuoco .... ?
Sure. You can see how the colour changes! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't think 'Scuderia red' is the correct reference at all - sounds like a english version of Rosso Scuderia which is a standard colour. Scuderia is the italian F1 team reference so I guess your dealer could be calling it the 'Formula 1 team red colour' which is essence a description of the colour as I believe it is the colour of the Formula 1 team. My car information references it as either 'Rosso F1 2007' or 'Nuovo Rosso Formula 1' - both a reference to it's origins. The PPG paint code sticker which I assume the the definitive reference is 'Nuovo Rosso Formula 1'.
Since that is my 458 in the first picture in this thread, I can tell you definitively it is Nuevo Rosso. It is NOT Fuoco. The label inside the trunk says the color is "F1 2007" Also, I've seen the Fuoco and it is equally great looking.
Congratulations on having such a beautiful car Russell! I'm afraid that if I ever can afford such a masterpiece that I will never be able to stop driving the damn thing, and all the other activities in my life will just be down time when I'm not in the F-car haha. I suppose there are worse problems to have though After seeing Fucco and Nuevo Rosso in many different pics on several different cars I'd have to say I'm partial to the Nuevo Rosso. It is just such a bright and brilliant red (which comes to mind when I think Ferrari red), the Fucco is gorgeous as well but just a little too dark IMVHO. This is all based on computer pictures though I've, unfortunately, never seen any of the triple-layer paints in person.
BTW, the triple yellow is absolutely stunning in person. I usually don't like yellow at all. The triple yellow looks like sun shining through it. Whatever color you get, I can tell you that my experience of driving the car makes the colors a lot less important. A bunch of users on the site have asked me whether it is worth it. I love the triple red. But after having the car for 2 weeks now, the color importance has faded away and all that stands out now is the ridiculously incredible driving experience.
I have one question for Russel and Gzachary, owners of Nuovo Rosso F1/F1 2007: Is it metallic? Not sure if 3 layers always means matallic or not.
Thanks, that's what I was initially assuming but looking to pics of Nuovo Rosso made me doubt. No doubt however about your Fuoco, definitely metallic even by computer pics. So you're referring to two whites, one being Fuji and the other...??? I guess "Alonso's Fiat 500 white" as you've mentioned?
yes, I believe that is metallic too. Easier to see a pearl white 500 in town, but it is a nice colour too! Like the pearl white Ducatis.
I'm afraid I don't know the answer with regards to it being metallic or not - Nuovo Rosso F1 certainly doesn't look metallic in the same way as Rosso Fuoco which is most definitely metallic - If I had to guess I would say it is slightly metallic but not in the normal sense of what I think of as metallic - the metallic finish is almost imperceptible, but that is purely based on looking at it with no paint knowledge. I didn't buy new so wasn't involved in specifying it with Ferrari - I would have swotted up if I had been involved in choosing it. I'm sure Gzachary or anyone else who has actually specified the colour with Ferrari can shed more light. The wheel shot really shows how the colour changes with the light from top to bottom. Yep, I have the same thoughts here as Russell996 about the metallic question. Doesnt really look very metallic to me.
