Hey, some people lose their **** over shields, or gearboxes, or seat stitching, or whatever. I find those H plates unbearably ugly, and it's my right to do so! The point is, with modern number-plate recognition tech being employed by the authorities, the old "the coppers need to know you're on historic reg" doesn't count any more. How many of you have been pulled over recently and asked to show your logbook? None? That's what I thought. The scheme itself is excellent. The insistence you display a crappy number-plate is not. If having to do that doesn't bother you - good for you. I can understand people with many multiple cars doing it, but for me with one car I wouldn't consider the yearly saving worth it.
Haven't had a look at the re-jigged route but I suspect it's going to be close to 10K KLM all up.....what one does to be a proper enthusiast.......
Cheers Kim updates will follow,by the time I get home to post the pics of the GAD it'll be time for the next one!!!
In Victoria they do pull over cars and ask for the log book. While I agree Steve with you the plates are ugly, for me the savings is large as i buy and sell plenty of older cars and the stamp duty savings over the years has been considerable ..enough that without adding in full , one of the cars in my garage is similar in value to the stamp duty savings.
Faark Simon you should get the proper enthusiast Trophy for that...I recon it won’t be beaten anytime soon!....
Steve ,this is close to my favourite car a Silver Cloud 111 Flying Spur . It will bring 500k. To buy it and put it on full reg is 45k! That is close to an engine rebuild on one of these ,why would one not prefer to have the money in your own account rather then a socialist government .And spend it on the car ?
