You would think after all these years I would know better - left Scud in garage in condo in Asheville for 3 weeks and now no power - I have the trickle charger that came with the car but that won't recharge a dead battery will it. I don't think you should jump do you. I guess I have to go and get new battery & replace - anybody have any different ideas. Its difficult to replace the battery because of my bad back.
    Thanks guys

You can try a good battery charger after you disconnect the main switch under hood

If the battery isn't that old and the first time you killed it ..it will recover over night

Trickle charger will charge it, but will just take more time.

Agreed. Turn off the power in the car and recharge. A good trickle will do it but it will take a couple of days to get topped up. If it won't charge or get to a good state, you will have to replace the battery.

As others said, it should recharge with a battery tender, but will take two or possibly three days. Be aware that deep discharging to the point of unable to start causes the battery to lose capacity. If the battery is older to begin with, or has been deeply discharged before, you may have an "iffy" battery now, even if you can get it to a state of holding a charge and starting the car. Meaning you will have much less reserve capacity. I would recommend after you get the car started, to remove the passenger side access panel to the battery and drive to an auto parts house, and ask them to load test the battery. Assuming you have the oem Optima red top battery, it should have 800CCA. If you have less than 700CCA in a charged state, I would consider replacing. I recently tested my 5 year old Optima and it is "passing" at around 725CCA, but I realize I probably need to consider replacing in the next year.

I don’t know...this has happened to me multiple times for various reasons - bad tender, bad fuse in connector, outlet bad, etc.
Every time I tried to recharge with various tenders, no luck.
It was just easier to replace the battery for me.
