Did I see a Lamborghini Silhouette in there??? That is one of my favourite cars.. I'd love to have one.

 

I'd love to see the Lancia Stratos - that's probably one car I'll never see in person (at least not a real one).

Sold a Silhouette back in 89 - still here in TO with the owner I think.
might be able to get you to see a Stratos here in TO.

 

Did'nt see a Lancia Statos but 3 in full rally configuration and racing full blast in 1973 (or 1974) bearing Alitalia airlines colors at Le Criterium Du Quebec around le Lac Des Sables in Ste Agathe.
It was a light rainy night and they were all roaring sideways like they could'nt care less, it was my first experience looking at international level drivers, what a life time experience.
Mind you we had a well reputable Canadian rally driver by the name of John Buffum that was doing well with his Porsche 911.
This high speed rally segment was held on a public road in an residential area, try to attend a simillar event nowadays for fun?

 

Funny enough - I do know Ivan Samila! We're not related.. I used to race an X1/9 in CASC, and shopped at CSC Racing in Newmarket. They'd always ask, are you related to Ivan? (he was also a customer..) - anyhow, many years later we met at the Mosport vintage festival. Small world Your old Dallara sounds cool. I always liked them. My race car had a stock body


BAH! Although I've been searching for a 308, the Silhouette is my dream machine (funny enough, the Jalpa is not even though they're essentially the same car.. I guess it's why I don't love the 328). I'm not sure if I ever saw the Silhouette at Leny's or not, but heck - I wonder if your old Silhouette is still around!?!??! I'm not sure which I'd like to see more, the Stratos or the Shilhouette! ha.. but one thing is for sure, my 17 year old nephew would pick the Stratos hands down (he's quite the Italian car nut, I wonder where he got that from!??!)

You sound like someone I know actually - did you work at Leny's way back??

Yes, I worked at Lenys way back in Countach Anniversary days.
There are now 2 Stratos in TO. I have worked on both recently.

BTW In 1982 I was living in Alicante Spain trying to make a living bicycle racing. I watched the Rallye Costa Blanca which was the last event in which a Stratos was raced as a non-privateer entry. Unfortunately it DNF'd on the 3rd stage. The honours were carried on by the 2 037s in WEST livery. Oh and I'll never forget the Grp 4 Ferrari 308 GTB driven by Zanuzzi testing at night right in front of me while I ate pork chops outside my favourite restaurant Mason Concha.

 

Ah! I thought so I hope to run into you this summer.. the Italian car nights are now on Tuesday.

Very cool - I love vintage Italian bikes, had a few - now I've got a Wilier Mortirolo with Campy gruppo - but no way I could ever make a living bicycle racing... not even as a water boy!


Cam, if that Silhouette comes up for sale - and the seller is motivated - I'm interested (assuming my bank account has enough for their current values )
