Hello all- short-term reader, first time caller here with a (slightly odd) request.

I'm looking for a Ferrari or Lambhorghini owner in the tri-state area who is willing to "loan" their vehicle for one or two hours on Sunday, September 2, 2012 (Memorial Day weekend) for a wedding ceremony. Long story short, my exotic car-fanatic brother is getting married that weekend and it typical in our Indian cultural to have the groom come to wedding ceremony on a horse behind a procession. I figured it would be an awesome treat for him to surprise him and shake things up with an exotic car instead of the horse.

The car will basically be driven through a parking lot for a few hundred feet and won't be driven on any public roadway (basically just be slowly rolling along). Obviously, I would be compensating any interested owner for your time and for "borrowing" the car for a short while. The owner is more than welcome to stay and watch to make sure we're not going for a joy ride (being a fanatic myself, I hate not being able to keep an eye on my baby..I'll even encourage them to see all the festivities!) and stay for the wedding if they'd chose to. The event will be taking place near Northern/Central NJ (near Hanover, NJ) between 8:30am ~ 10am. The only requirement is that the car has to be a convertible (groom has to be seen, after all) and preferably have a white exterior (other colors would work too).

I've looked into and contacted several tri-state area exotic car rental companies but, being over a long weekend, all of them are asking for a full weekend rental and astronomical rates for something that won't even be driven less than a tenth of a mile in a parking lot (not even see a public road) and not over 5 mph. I figured posting this request on a few of the prominent exotic car community sites might yield more realistic results.

If anyone interested, please feel free to PM me or e-mail me at Vatsal.EWB (at) gmail.com . I'm sure this request might seem unusual, but please rest assured it's legitimate and I'm not looking to spam or "troll". Thanks for looking and your time for reading though this lengthy post!

    Very interesting request.
The only big problem is that it will definitely be very hard to find a white convertible Ferrari, then to be lucky enough for it to be near your reception. I didn't think I've seen any white Ferrari convertible in my whole life, other than the new 458 Italia spider. I think the 458 would be your only chance to find what you are looking for. I'm pretty sure a Lamborghini would be easier to find in white.
Good luck with your search. I think it would be real nice if you can pull it off.

maybe try contacting an auto blog and see if they can help you out. A rental company may be more inclined to help you out if they're going to get some press out of it. I'm not a huge Jalopnik fan, but they have a ton of reach.

Thanks up4speed and ETL330 for the responses. I agree it'll be damn near impossible to find a convertible Ferrari that's also white so I've also opened up my search for white convertible Bentley Continentals (seem to be plenty of these).

Tax Dr- You have a PM! Thanks for the interest.

This sounds like a very tall order. Even if you pay someone, the odds of finding a white convertible of any of the models you mention is going to be tricky. Maybe it might be easier getting a horse. My friend and his wife did that in North NJ about 7 years ago.

At the end of the day, I don't see why it is worth being so showy, since 99.5% of people at weddings don't know anything about modern exotics and would not know a 458 from a 308. If fact, anyone who is impressed by a Ferrari is materialistic.

Maybe you can find a smaller non-authorized dealer with exotics who may be interested in a few bucks for what you suggest. You never know...

If I knew someone that could help, I'd offer a name.

MVDESQ - With all due respect, this is not really about being materialistic. With him being a huge car fanatic (and especially about exotic cars) I figured it would be worth a shot trying to use the budget for the horse and carriage on a car instead; if I could, it would be great but otherwise that option would still be available. I'm not doing this to "show off" in front of friends and family (who already well know what our status is and isn't) but if it brings yet another memory to my brother for his special day, I think it would be worth spending a few hours to ask around.

Anyways, Tax Dr and I were unfortunately unable to come to together on this request. If anyone else is interested, please let me know!

I can understand that. When I got married 34 years ago we dreaded the thought of using a typical (for then) Cadillac stretch limo, so we found and rented a vintage Bentley. It was very elegant, about the same price and a heck of a lot more memorable! Some people still mention that to us about the wedding.

    Escape the ordinary!

I understand Indian weddings. My wife is from India and she is wonderful. Her family treats me like a king and I'm Sicilian and Irish. Many Indians only want their kids to marry other Indians. I was welcomed with open arms. I love Indian food as well. I am not far from Hanover. If you are having the wedding in Hanover, I already have an idea where the wedding will be held. How about a White Rolls Royce Convertible with a red interior and gold trim? Indian colors for sure. A few questions, who is going to be in the driver seat and what did you have in mind for the person who offers his car?

Ashman - Thanks for the note; if I can create a memory like yours which people remember long after the ceremonies are over then this search will be totally worth it.

Richelieu Ferrari - You have a PM!

Thanks everyone for your responses and have a great weekend. If anyone else is interested please feel free to PM or e-mail me.

All- just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted a reply and offered some comment and help. You have a great group among yourselves as several of the members on this board sent me a message to offer their services.

At the end of the day one of your own, Nick Petino, came out and made an unforgettable day even more memorable for my brother and family. Nick was a gentleman of the highest caliber (along with his beautiful red 360) and I'm glad I came to this forum to ask for help.

You're all an inspiration.. here's to hoping I get to own an Fcar of my own some day and join you guys!

Mods- please feel free to lock this post so it can make its slow descent to the archives
