Mine is almost 4 years old and looks as good as the day I received it. I don’t think a Ferrari interior would have held up as well.

Heck no... IMO 3x8's looks much better than a vet... U want to compete with a C8, then buy a F8 or 296

good to hear. I haven’t bought an American car in awhile. Toyotas have held up pretty good, but I feel every decade they get slightly more fragile.

I had a C7. Traded it in for an Alfa 4c in about a year. Didn't like it -- part of it was the quality of the paint and interior. The C8 is really a much better car than previous Corvettes. Its pretty much a "no excuses" car.

Do I wish it didn't look not like a knock off Lambo? Yes. But people seem to like the way it looks.

Lamborghini? No where close…. Corvette has been using Ferrari design language since the C5.

Many times when a C8 was new and coming towards me, I would wonder what Ferrari model it was.

As far as the OPs question, if the usage described has changed from one that favored a weekend car to more of a semi-daily driver, and money dictated that it could only be one car, yes I would make the trade.

Even if that meant the Ford GT or the Diablo Roadster had to go.

    I've had a couple of c8's and now have a z06.

Probably blasphemy to say it here, but I don't enjoy my 328 anymore, and if I had to choose, the Ferrari would have to go.

The new C8 looks very close to a 458... they probably had one to study when the C8 was on the drawing board minus the side intakes... copycats???? lol

I'm having the same dilemma. I have a C8 on order. I have to sell the 328 to buy the Vette.
Should I do it ? I'm still questioning myself. So my answer is "I don't know more than you "

Like many of us I guess, I have many vehicles. But the newest one is a 2016 now with 100k miles. 160k km
    The economical one.
My second driver is a 2010 with 145k km but more luxury. Not as economical.
I also have an old 87 C4 convertible manual shift for the fun of it. My second C4 and had 2 C3.
And my old dually for the need.

Before the 328 I wanted something newer in the exotics so I bought a Gallardo. They are known as good cars. But I bought the wrong car. Coupe, I also found the color not so attractive. Dark gray. I hated the way the clutch engaged when leaving from a stop. I was also very uncomfortable with the fact that I was totally dependant of a specialized shop for any electronic work. No Lara or Texa at home.
I liked the modern interior and how comfortable it was on the hignway.
The pros were fewer than the cons so I traded it for the 328.

As soon as I drove back home in the 328 I felt at home and confident with the car.
I also had more thumbs up than with the Lambo.

I really like the 328 but I still feel I'd like a more modern sport or exotic car.

The reason I chose the corvette is the price for what it is and also the fact it is a GM and dealers are all over the place no matter where I go and on warranty for some years to come. PEACE OF MIND.
I owned a C6 for a few years and loved it.
And never nervous about putting too many miles on It. It's not a Ferrari.

For exemple if I decide to drive from Quebec to Florida I'd use the new Vette.
I would not do that with the 328 even if the car can do it and with no fear.

    Not a bad looking car.

Heck, I drove my 328 across the US twice, the first time was 3 days after I first laid eyes on it/bought it in 2008. As far as reliability, the car has been FAR more reliable than any of my wife's last three MB S-series cars. Now, as far as useful air conditioning, that's a different deal! :)

Yeah, I wouldn't argue with that but my wife's a big fan.

I admit that I think her current S580 is a really nice car and I enjoy driving it but it had to go back to the dealer for work on the electronics two days after she bought it! WAAAAYYYY too much electronic cr@p, 90+% of which we don't use/can't figure out!

No and no. I would rather daily a 328.

  14. Consider the source of opinions here.

    It is FChat, after all.

When people say the 328 GTS is an appreciating asset, they are right, but only if you don't drive it (or drive it every time Haley's Comet comes into earth's orbit). So, in comparison to the C8, it'll appreciate, but only if you don't use the car for its intended purpose.

But if you did, it would depreciate like a rock, just like the C8.

And between the C8 and 356, the C8 is on average a better driver's car.

    Sorry, not sorry.

That is something to consider, yes. I've worked on Corvettes for over 20 years now and a Corvette is the only car I've ever bought new so nothing against them inherently.

Love this discussion... Everyone has their own opinion about what they like to drive and own and of course I respect that... Bottom line is; what ever you can afford, if you love the brand or not and its fun, its your own personal right!

I believe a 300,000 mile 328 will hold more value longer than a C8 with the same mileage.

  18. It should since it costs more (MSRP) when brand new, even without accounting for inflation.

Even at MSRP to MSRP, the Corvette is cheaper (~68k) in 2024 dollars than the 328 GTS was (72k) in 1985 dollars.

Have you driven a 328 on a regular basis in heavy city trafic on hot sunny days ?

For investment I'd put my 328 money in the bank and drive my other cars.

Collector wise the 328 is a WAY better choice.
But when it comes to creature comfort and to use as a REAL car in today's life the C8 is way ahead.

The driving and investment discussions mean nothing to me. It is all about wrenching for my hobby. I can't imagine trying to fix anything on a C8. I don't have diagnostic computers so I would be completely lost.

  24. This is very true.

And wrench the 328 you will. Many many times.

No but I've driven cars with no air conditioning in heavy city traffic on hot sunny days so I can't imagine a 328 being worse.
