RIP ,Bobby Unser passed on last Sunday aged 87. One of the greatest racers the USA has produced . A 10 time winner outright of Peaks Peak and the 1975 IROC Champion. A 3 time winner of the Indy 500 including with Penske motorsport in 1981. A truly great American racer equal to Jones ,his brother Al, Andretti , A.J, Rutherford and Mears ...RIP. Competed in round 2 of the Supersports Championship at Wakefield Park on Fri/Sat, Fri practice didn't start well, we had a fire in the car on track about 4 laps into the first session, it took the next 3/4 of the day to clean, check & repair everything, got back out in last session & 3rd lap out & drive shaft broke. GWR did a great job & fixed it overnight. We were first session out on Saturday for qualy, there was a fog delay for an hour, so shortened session, but bounced back with no practice & took P2, was definitely feeling better after the Friday difficulties & no real time on track. Race 1 had a great start & got to first by turn 1 & held on for a win. Race 2 I made a mistake & spun on the second lap, I got back on track in last position, made up a place & then the safety car came out for another car off, after the restart I made it up to 7th by race end, but after the race I copped a 30 sec time penalty for stupidly passing a car before the control line on the restart & sadly relegated to 13th. Race three started from 13th on the grid & made it up to 5th by race end, I will take the positives from the weekend with qualy & the race 1 win, but disappointed with myself for the spin which really cost me start positions in the next 2 races & any chance of podium position for the round. Onto round 3 at SMSP for a day/night meet end of June. The usual mixture of racing pleasure and pain, but I'm glad your engine problems seem to be over. I am always bemused when the Motorsport Australia (nee CAMS) officials are so quick to hand out penalties when a stern warning would be more than enough. They love their rule book and penalising amateur drivers on the same basis as V8 Supercars or indeed FIA formula races. Relegating people down the grid just serves to make them sick of dealing with unaccountable officials, most have whom have never raced. On the other hand, they bend the rules whenever it suits them, particularly if the driver is from overseas or has a high profile car.
They show them sometimes live &/or afterwards Karen online on Blend Line TV, if not live generally within a week or so after. They used to be on Speedweek with SBS who still have lots of forms of amateur racing weekly.

Yes mate it sometimes is just not consistent, the guy that was leading after the SC who as you know controls the restart, however they are according to the rules supposed to wait naturally for the SC to turn off light & go into the pits, then lead car to maintain approx 80 kms/hr until turning onto the straight, view a green flag then they are free to re-commence the race at will, our race leader took off on the back straight well before turn 10 coming onto the straight, I had only just come out of turn 9 onto the back straight & he'd already taken off before getting onto the main straight, seeing the green flag as is required & then going, this in some way was why I was so anxious to get going myself & overtook before the control line, all he got was a warning when he in fact disadvantaged a number of people & me getting a 30 seconds penalty, just not consistent.
Yes control line is same as start finish line at all tracks, we all refer to control line or start finish line as one in the same in our category.
