Max 2'000.. Production time can't be longer than 2 1/2 years and they have to continue 488 GTB and spider production... So maybe 700/800 gto per year on top...

    VS 2700 / VS Aperta 1700/ LE 500 = 4900

This is conservative, if they can sell/produce more then who knows.

How can this be confirmed and what will take the 488GTB's place?

Not much in the short term. GTB production runs to possibly early next year, maybe not even, VS will be dominant then, new car revealed end 2019 with deliveries early 2020, or that's how I understand it.

I wonder if there's been any discussion yet of a possible replacement (or two) - seems very unlikely.............

You can no longer order a GTB or Spider according to my dealer, just a Pista / Pista Spider if your lucky. My GTB is stage 40 now, one the last few ones coming off the line in the next few months.

However according to some posters the FL is just that ,a face lift ...the replacement for the 488 will not be introduced until 2020/21 ..go figure.

It's a "FL" just like the F430 was a facelift for the 360 Modena, or the 488 for the 458 - i.e. it's the same platform but a different car (to some extent). So it's a replacement already, the next one (2020-21) will be a new generation (like the 458 was for the 360/F430, the 360 for the 348/355, the 348 for the 308/328...)
The difference is that this time there will be three models in the 458 generation (458, 488 and the so-called 488FL - which will undoubtly have a new name).
This FL will have a short life, apparently, so there may not be a last sportier version; the Pista could be produced for the whole time along the FL (which was not the case before, there was only a short overlap between Speciale and 488, for instance). I think this is likely since Pista spiders deliveries are announced for 2020; that's why I believe Pista production will not be smaller than Speciale production.

I don’t think you can order a Pista/Pista spider unless your dealer is living in hope that there will be a further allocation - does anyone have any evidence to the contrary? I don’t think that is confirmed (and I don’t think it will be). More likely they are done with Pista and spider by early 2020, so a very short run for spider and only 18+ months for Pista (which may well be mostly finished by the time spider is produced), with FL coming on stream mid 2019. I don’t think they will want to produce different models for very long (when Speciale arrived 458 mostly stopped, when 488 arrived Speciale quickly stopped and so on). One thing I have not heard discussed is a FL spider. There may not be time to do a FL GTO (haha!) but I would have thought that a spider takes no effort and will certainly add sales opportunities to the FL. Anyone have any ideas on that?
