I am about to reinstall my axle after pulling it off to replace the cv joint boot. how much should i torque down the hex bolts? Is there a spec on that or just muscle them tight?

Torques spec is 57 ft-lbs. on a 328. I must admit, I just crank 'em down. -Steve

I put a sandwich bag over the cv joints to enable me to get them into place withoughgetting junk in the cv and to keep the grease from getting all over everything on the way. just pull the baggie before you are ready to put the cv on the flange.

Just make them muscle tight, just before you distort the bolt heads.

Note I don't remember if it's a 8 or 9mm, but buy a really good, Snap On or Craftsman, Allen wrench and 3/8" drive allen wrench. The cheep ones will bust or round off and damage the bolt. Been there and done that.
