Hi, I am trying to trace the history of my own car, a UK-spec 328 GTS. I have been told that it was shipped from the factory to Torino Motors in NZ in 1986. Is there anyone on this forum that knows how to trace a car in NZ?

I am trying to trace the history of my 328 - I am told it was shipped from the factory direct to NZ (Torino Motors) in 1986. Is there any way of tracing cars that went to NZ at that time?

Unfortunately due to our Privacy Act you can no longer get details of previous owners etc. If you go onto the NZ Land Transport website you can get some history, such as safety checks when and where done -called Warrant of Fitness and required every 6 months.
Cars were then issued with a set of "Ownership Papers" when first registered in NZ. They are manilla coloured and list the name and address of every owner. Are they by any chance still with the car?

If you have the registration plate number used when the car was in new Zealand, or vin, it should be quite easy. Many sites will give you ownership history etc. Costs around $10NZD.
    Maybe try www.thatcar.nz
    www.carjam.co.nz
