What did everyone think of the new episode? I thought it had one of the best Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car guest I would love to be able to drive any of his cars.

Tell me about it. I wish I could see his garage personally.

Well he did say that anyone that comes over to his house for ANY reason, he shows them his cars. So Just pop over there and pretend to be fixing the TV or something. ;)

P.S. Yes the episode was great especially the Chris Evens bit and the part wit the Lancia's. Can't believe know one knew htye were talking about Lanica, it was obvious to me at least as soon as Clarkson mentioned Rallying.

Yes, I agree, one of the better "legitimate car episodes" for real car people.
Didn't find it the most engrossing or funny, but that's ok.

That Evans guy reminds me of Leno; true gear head that seems to love talking about his cars with just about anyone.

Chris Evans seems to be an extremely nice guy. I can really imagine him dragging the completely uninterested plumber who's perfectly fine with his VW into his garage just to show off his cars!

The Lambo test was refreshing - not very spectacular, but finally something different than the usual "let's drift around our airfield" stuff

The Lancias could have been better - they focused on pointless stuff (like the night race or the Stratos replica, WTF?), I'd rather have liked to see all the 7 Lancias they choose in detail.

I love top gear...but it's a comedy show first and foremost. A comedy show with cars. Great entertainment, but hardly informative.

It's hard to take seriously most of the things they say...

Do we think the "airport fiasco" and the Lancia fire were staged?

Everything on Top Gear is carefully scripted, so yes, both of these were staged.

As evidence to the airport bit being staged: http://www.edp24.co.uk/content/edp24/news/video/story.aspx?brand=EDPOnline&category=Video&itemid=NOED05%20Oct%202009%2015%3A02%3A41%3A300&tBrand=EDPOnline&tCategory=Video

Also, the Stratos owner and builder are both more than a little peeved at the way the show depicted their Stratos. Evidently the Stig did something like 30 laps before they filmed the lap where he purposefully spun.

Did anyone else notice that when James was landing in the caravan blimp they used some of the sound from when they went across the English channel in the amphibious cars?

Yes, he's very widely known for being a big petrol head and a huge Ferrari fan. Hence why he went to Marranello to by a Ferrari for $12Million, when he didn't even go there to buy a car.

    Now thats dedication!!! ;)

i wouldn't say that large a percentage but now I'm not. Trouble is that we don't always know what genuine and whats fake.

It's all staged - all of it. I believe pretty much every incident, every moment, every surprise event is all planned with great forethought.

That's OK, I suppose... I didn't believe all this stuff just happened by accident.

But the problem is that it's not as funny as it used to be. 2-3 seasons ago it was much better. Now it's much more contrived, and the humor is not nearly as biting or as good.

I think they need to bring in some new writers who have a better sense of humor.

The stacked cars race with steering up top and gas below was hilarious. Bus racing was great. Going across the desert in Namibia (?) was excellent. This past season, not so much... last 3 shows... pretty bad, comparatively.

I loved the use of the Bond music from You Only Live Twice during the unveiling of the airship.

its kind of weird seeing them just pick up a car, and drive the crap out of it. Seeing that on Television makes it seem like I could buy a car, and it would easily run as a daily driver no matter how old it is, but that is quit unrealistic, and we know that the older a car gets the more maintenance it is going to require.

just a weird feeling I have every time I watch that show.

I actually found the episode pretty boring. One of the best episodes was the Vietnam road trip..

What did the stratos owner expect? They have never been kind to any kit car imo...

What bothers me this season is that the faking is so bloody obvious. The lamborghini crash, james driving the wrong way, the electric car falling down a hill they just happened it pushed up...

They do need new writers. Some of the jokes are bloody funny (like May asking clarkson 'where is hammond' and clarkson says 'I don't know, I'll call him over' and pushes a button with Retard written on it:D) but it's not even like it was last season....shame.

Episodes 3 and 4 have been terrible, (with a couple segment exceptions, of course)... Overall though, this whole season has really been going downhill

The whole airline race at the beginning of episode 4... was one of the most boring things i have ever seen on TG

I couldn't wait for the new season to begin and now i find myself being bored more than entertained and Richard Hammon's Top Gear Behind the Scenes or whatever it was called, was the equally as bad, if not worse, even the Ferrari, Lambo, and Zonda couldn't save it

So far... No good - I hope they do something with whats left of this season to change my mind

    +1

I already thought the bus race was pointless, but the airport vehicles were even more ridiculous. Would have been a nice part of a Bud Spencer & Terence Hill movie, but absolutely pointless in a car show. It would have been more entertaining if Jeremy, Richard and James took three of the vehicles to one of their challenges...
